You cannot write unless you are alone in both mind and body.
When you cannot write, what kind of things are crossing your mind?
I have written many times about how to deal with not having topics to write about on note or not being able to organize your thoughts into writing, but this time, I would like to focus on the mindset.
Even if you have topics to write about on note and can imagine what it would be like to put them into words, it does not necessarily mean you can write.
Unless you have the right mindset for writing, you cannot write something that reaches people's hearts.
What is that mindset?
It is to be "all alone."
When writing, if you have too many people's faces in your mind or start thinking about other things, your writing will lose its coherence, and you will lose the energy to finish it.
"If I write this, will those people laugh at me...?"
"Even if I write something like this, it won't be accepted..."
If you find yourself remembering someone's face every time you try to write like this, it is better to step away from your computer or smartphone for a while.
Basically, writing is something you do alone, and something you read alone.
In other words, it is a one-on-one communication.
If you are thinking about other people while trying to talk to one person in front of you, you will inevitably end up with shallow words because you are trying to be liked by everyone.
As a result, the writing becomes completely unrewarding for both others and yourself.
That is why, when you write, you need to be alone in both mind and body.
Until the people in your head disappear, you cannot write something that reaches people's hearts.
However, as we often interact with people, it can be difficult to switch to 'all alone' mode.
Even if there is no one around, work relationships might cross your mind, or you might think about friends or lovers, causing you to step outside the scope of your own thoughts.
At such times, I make it a point to think things through once and for all.
I think carefully about how I feel about my relationships and how I should interact with them, and I reach a conclusion.
When I do that, my mind clears up, and it becomes easier to switch to 'all alone' mode.
Being alone means prioritizing your own thoughts.
Once you have come up with a few of your own thoughts, you can start writing.
"I couldn't forgive that thing they did."
"I should learn from that aspect of them."
"When all is said and done, I suppose this is the kind of person I am..."
The more you encounter problems that you find truly troubling, the more you will want to write.
Before you start writing, first check to see if you are truly alone.
