The Day I Woke Up to Philosophy.
I was not good at schoolwork,
so I wondered why I became interested in philosophy
while rolling around on my futon.
I thought about it.
For me,
digging deep into these trivial matters
is my greatest pleasure.🤣
It was when I was in the upper grades of elementary school.
My homeroom teacher suddenly asked us students a question,
capturing the interest of someone like me
who couldn't find interest in a single school subject.
“I want you all to think about this for a moment.
Is there anything in this world that cannot be broken?”
As I sat thinking in the very front seat in the middle,
answers flew in one after another
from the back of the classroom.
“Clothes!”
“Rocks!”
“Maybe a house?”
The teacher looked a little happy
and answered like this.
“Clothes can tear or burn, right?
Houses also break down when they get old.
Rocks can also be crushed with a hammer.”
The frustrated students
wracked their brains for more answers.
Student: “Diamonds?”
Teacher: “Actually, diamonds can also be broken with a hammer.”
Student: “Oh, I know! Water?”
Teacher: “If you put water in a pot and boil it,
it evaporates. Anything else?”
When the class went quiet,
the teacher said with a serious expression.
“There is nothing in this world that cannot be broken.
No matter how hard something is,
it will eventually disappear.”
That can't be true!
The classroom buzzed,
but no matter how much we thought,
we couldn't come up with anything that couldn't be broken.
I didn't understand it back then when I was 12,
but thinking about it now, that question from my homeroom teacher
might have been the trigger
that made me interested in philosophy.
While remembering
memories from such a distant day,
I bought an e-book with
Amazon points✨

"The Practice of Not Seeking" (by Kang Yoon-soo).
It seems to be the perfect content
for someone with a twisted personality like me✨
It is a book that I can truly appreciate
precisely because I have had various experiences as an adult.
I want to find some free time
and read it little by little.
🍀【Bonus】
Kote (my son) is at home in the morning.
He is creating something on his tablet,
and seems to be enjoying his own world.
When I try to approach him thinking,
"I wonder if he's lonely by himself?"
he gives me a cold look and says one thing.
"Mom, don't come over here!"
I suppose you're right.
When you're creating something,
you want to be immersed in it alone, don't you?
"His words and actions are starting to resemble mine"
I thought, and it was a
Friday morning that made me a little happy✨
Thank you
for reading♡
