Space Cup Haiku Submission: 3 Spring Poems
Yes, I'm entering too!
I'd like to think I've stepped up
from winter, at least.😅
They're still a work in progress, but please take a look.☺︎☺︎
Spring dawn, a song like drifting incense.
I want to write about the music of Fishmans, which saved me during my dark middle school days. And I want to write about the Space Cup theme, "Spring is the dawn."
This is a poem born from those two thoughts.
When I listen to it, my feelings just calm right down. It's like looking through a kaleidoscope; even though my own position doesn't change, the beautiful, fantastical scenery I'm looking at just keeps spinning and changing.
How well I managed to express that feeling of Fishmans' music
remains a mystery.

Eating sand, days when the night won't end, the spring cold lingers.
They often say that spring is the season of farewells.
My favorite musicians, and actors too.
They all passed away in the spring.
Fishmans' vocalist, Mr. Sato
The great Heisei actor, Mr. Ren Osugi
And it will soon be one year since the great Showa actor, Mr. Masakazu Tamura, departed for the afterlife.
These are poems born from such sadness and sentimentality.
The comment section of this article
was the inspiration for the birth of these poems.
Swallows and spring onion-colored robes are carried
Speaking of swallows, the Yakult Swallows!?
The spring onion-colored robes are their uniforms.
I wrote about the scene where the Swallows players in their uniforms came to Okinawa in February, which was the camp season!
Although I am a Hanshin Tigers fan,
I live in the home base of the Swallows.
I found banners saying "Welcome Yakult Swallows" and "Congratulations on being Japan's No. 1" all over town. Even at the city hall, the staff were wearing spring onion-colored uniforms in a celebratory mood, saying "Congratulations on being Japan's No. 1!"
I wrote this poem
while thinking that I was in enemy territory.
