Emotions have 'intensity,' 'duration,' and 'depth'
❝Understand their nature and manage them well❞
As we go about our daily lives, we think about many things
and various thoughts emerge.
Sometimes, we get trapped by those thoughts
and lose sight of our true feelings.
Those thoughts well up from within us,
and they have their own unique characteristics and habits.
Some people might feel down over small things,
while others might laugh out loud at trivial matters,
varying from person to person.
Such thoughts—emotions—have specific natures.
The first is that they have 'intensity'.
For example, if someone doesn't return your greeting,
you might get very angry if you are already in a bad mood,
but if you are calm, you might just think something must have happened
and easily brush it off.
Another is that they have 'duration'.
I don't think anyone is aware of such emotions forever.
Even if you remember them,
they aren't always on your mind.
They fade and surface with time.
The nature of emotions is that this duration also varies from person to person.
Furthermore, 'creating depth' is also a nature of emotions.
If you are caught up in a single emotion,
you end up nurturing that emotion, for better or worse.
If you nurture it in a negative way,
it can even grow into resentment.
There is no need to intentionally deepen unpleasant emotions.
If you discover an unpleasant emotion while it is still faint, acknowledge it by saying 'Oh, it's there,'
and comfort yourself, it will surely calm down.
I want to understand the nature of the various emotions born within me,
and manage them well so I don't get pushed around by them.

Today is Thursday. May you have a wonderful day💖
