Experience the Forefront of GNSS Time Synchronization! "GNSS TimeSync 2025" Announced
IIJ will host "GNSS TimeSync 2025," the first technical seminar in Japan specializing in time synchronization using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).
This event is a valuable opportunity for engineers involved in time synchronization protocols such as NTP and PTP to get a comprehensive overview of the latest technology trends based on GNSS.
What is GNSS Time Synchronization?
GNSS is utilized in many fields, including broadcasting, telecommunications, and finance, as a technology that can acquire accurate time from anywhere on Earth.
In recent years, with the spread of NTP (Network Time Protocol) and PTP (Precision Time Protocol), GNSS has come to play an increasingly important role as a source signal for time synchronization.
To obtain stable time via GNSS, an understanding of high-frequency technology—including radio waves, antennas, coaxial cables, and noise countermeasures—is essential. In particular, there is a need for opportunities for IT engineers to learn this knowledge systematically.
Why IIJ is Hosting This Seminar
This seminar was planned after IIJ realized that the importance of GNSS time synchronization is increasing at the field level while proposing PTP (Precision Time Protocol) technology in the broadcasting and telecommunications sectors.
In the process, we felt that despite the fact that knowledge of high-frequency technology such as antenna installation, radio wave reception, and noise countermeasures is essential for the proper operation of GNSS, there is a current situation where such practical knowledge is not sufficiently shared among engineers is a challenge.
In addition, there are almost no technical seminars in Japan specializing in GNSS time synchronization, and we have received many requests for a place for cross-industry information exchange.
For these reasons, IIJ believes that sharing the expertise of companies and engineers who actually utilize GNSS technology and improving the understanding and application skills of time synchronization technology regardless of the field is what is needed right now, and we have decided to hold this seminar with the cooperation of those active on the front lines.
