Marketing that Sells: Proposing "If you're unsure, choose this!"
When giving a gift to someone, you worry about their preferences, their family,
whether it's stylish, whether it's tasteful, if the price is reasonable,
if it looks good, and so on,
and after hesitating over this and that, you end up buying it without confidence,
thinking, "Well, this will do!"
Or, you might just go to a different store.
People are hesitant in many different situations.
At such times,
if there is someone to encourage a decision or information that gives you confidence,
you can make a purchase with peace of mind.
When you ask at a restaurant, "What do you recommend?"
and they say clearly, "Our recommendation is this!"
it becomes much easier to say,
"Then, I'll have that!"
However, if they say, "We recommend everything,"
your question was a waste, and you are back to being unsure.
You might get annoyed and just order something at random.
Also, customers do not trust "We recommend everything."
They feel it's just lip service and may even become suspicious.
When they say, "I recommend this!" and point to just one thing,
you feel the owner's confidence in that dish,
and you think, "Maybe I'll give it a try."
Suppose that in a store with many products lined up,
a single POP sign is attached to one product.
On it, along with the catchphrase "If you're unsure, choose this!"
the reason for recommending that product is written.
When a customer sees this...
It becomes a trigger for them to make a decision,
and the likelihood of them purchasing it increases significantly.
It reduces the number of times people hesitate over this and that,
and end up leaving without buying anything.
You often see the phrase "Manager's Recommendation," but
since it's everywhere, people are used to it,
and you cannot expect much effect from it.
However, "If you're unsure, choose this!"
is not a one-sided imposition from the store,
but rather gives the impression of helping the customer
while understanding their feelings.
As a two-way message,
it captures the customer's attention.
Please propose "If you're unsure, choose this!"
with confidence.
