Diary: Poison, Turn Inside Out
I have a certain habit.
It is eating high-cacao chocolate before meals.
This behavior apparently has health benefits, and after being recommended by my parents, it has been over a year since I started.
The theory, I believe, is that eating high-cacao chocolate before a meal suppresses a sudden spike in blood sugar during the meal.
I have no idea how suppressing a sudden blood sugar spike is supposed to be good for my health, but I continue doing it anyway. (According to a search, it seems it can prevent overeating.)
The high-cacao chocolate I usually buy is this one ↓
Meiji Chocolate Kouka Cacao 72%
According to the packaging, 93% of doctors approve of it. I wonder what they approved of. I'm sure I could find the answer if I looked it up properly, but seeing packaging that looks like a cliché scam makes me feel a bit sick. I understand that it's a chance for the designer to show off their skills in "how to attract consumer interest," but I wish they would change it. Every time I buy it, I'm reminded that I'm just another foolish consumer deceived by authority. Also, one pack contains 45 pieces, so if I eat 3 a day, it lasts for 15 days. I'm happy I don't have to buy it frequently.
Now, onto the main topic.
Main topic
The other day, while I was browsing the snack aisle at the supermarket looking for my usual high-cacao chocolate, the Cacao 72% Chocolate Kouka I usually buy wasn't there.
So, I bought this instead ↓
It's the one I usually buy, but with a higher cacao percentage. A logical choice.
So lately, instead of 72%, I have been eating 86% chocolate before meals, but there is one major problem.
That is, it is so bitter it makes me want to snap!
Seriously, I wish it would stop killing my mood before a meal. It's that bitter.
After all, it looks like chocolate and smells like chocolate, so I end up putting it in my mouth while imagining sweetness. That's the trap. When you think of chocolate, what comes to mind? For me, it's Meltykiss or DARS. So I end up eating it while imagining those. Then, a strong bitterness that I wouldn't even want to call chocolate hits my tongue, and it makes no sense.
If you ask what kind of emotion you feel when you are betrayed by yourself, it is anger.
Lately, I have been entering an angry state before eating my meals. Am I a monster from Monster Hunter?
Thinking that while my blood sugar might be suppressed, my blood pressure is probably rising, I reluctantly spend my days like this because I can't just throw away the large bag I went to the trouble of buying.
That's all for my high-cacao chocolate eating habit.
If there is anyone thinking about starting the habit of eating high-cacao chocolate before meals, I recommend this one below.
You might say, "Don't recommend something you aren't eating yourself," but the reason is simple: compared to Meiji Chocolate Kouka, this one is sweeter and tastier. Also, it's cheaper.
I also ate the Lotte one mentioned above for a while, but I switched to Meiji becauseMeiji Chocolate Kouka is even more bitter, even at the same 72% cacao content.
This is because I believe in the saying, "Good medicine tastes bitter."I believe that the more bitter and unpleasant it tastes, the better it is for your health.Though there is a limit to that. 86% cacao is too bitter. It's practically poison.
Well then, let's all continue with our own personalhealth charmsand stay healthy.
Goodbye.
