Until We Became a Real Family
No. 610 The story introduced this time
Here, I compile stories that have become topics on the internet and in the news, which have brought tears to people's eyes, as "stories so moving they make you cry," along with videos uploaded on platforms like YouTube.
The story I am introducing this time is a post written by a man who married young and started a family, but because his daughter was born with illnesses and disabilities, both he and his wife became mentally and physically exhausted from childcare and work, leading to the collapse of their family. He writes about the situation at that time and their current situation.
There was a video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.
Regarding the time of posting
Summary siteBased on the copy-paste, it seems to have been posted on January 5, 2009.
Content of the post
We had been dating since high school, married at 21, and our eldest daughter was born soon after.
Our eldest daughter was born with quite difficult illnesses and physical disabilities.
My wife was mentally and physically broken from taking care of our daughter and suffered from childcare neurosis.
I also had severe work stress.
I was only around twenty, but my hair was falling out.
It was a truly terrible company that I would have quit immediately if it weren't for my wife and child.
When I came home, there was no greeting, no dinner, the room was a mess, and the sound of my daughter crying
was echoing loudly.
My wife was sitting next to her, disheveled and exhausted from lack of sleep...
Without a "welcome home," I would just be forced to listen to her complaints...
This went on for a long time, and since my wife couldn't handle it alone, I would also do childcare and housework,
but it overlapped with work and I reached my limit, so we were arguing every day.
One day, someone from the city office came, saying there had been a report that we were abusing our child.
Of course, we weren't abusing her, but I suppose we were misunderstood because of our daughter's abnormal crying, the sounds of our arguments, and our exhausted appearances.
But at that time, I thought, "Fine, if you think it's abuse, just take her away."
I was fed up too, so I didn't go home for about a week and stayed in a cheap hotel.
When I finally returned home, the lights were off, my daughter's crying was echoing,
and my wife had collapsed in the kitchen.
I called an ambulance and we went straight to the hospital.
It seems she had been feeling unwell for a long time, but she didn't have the luxury of going to the hospital because of taking care of our daughter.
My wife's parents came to the hospital looking frantic, and I told them everything.
My mother-in-law said,
"It was too early for you two to have a family. I will take my granddaughter and look after her!"
And she took our eldest daughter away right then and there.
This was right around the time our daughter was turning three.
For the next six months, life was ordinary and peaceful.
I quit my job, and we spent time relaxing together using unemployment insurance and our savings.
I thought I wanted to get a divorce and be free, but we both slept a lot, rested a lot, and that helped us calm down.
When I reunited with my daughter after six months, I realized I wanted to raise her ourselves after all.
So we took her back.
From then on, we moved to get our daughter developmental support and medical care, and started over from scratch.
It was my birthday the other day.
Various things I like appeared, such as fried chicken and seafood pilaf, and for dessert, my eldest daughter made me a cake.
Our second daughter was also born.
She is 11 years younger than our eldest, though.
My wife, who used to have childcare neurosis, seems to have wanted to get involved in childcare for children with disabilities and sick children because of our eldest daughter, so she got a childcare worker qualification and is working at a facility.
It was incredibly tough, but now I think it was for the best.
People around us say we are a close-knit family, and I think so too.
Now, there is absolutely no time when I don't want to come home.

There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce a part of it.
