My husband cheated, and we were in the process of getting a divorce.

The details of the affair are off-topic and were settled smoothly without any fuss, so I will omit them, but we had a discussion about which of us would take our son, who is in his first year of high school.

We both said we wanted to take him, but since he is already at an age where he can make his own judgments, we decided to prioritize his wishes and held a three-way meeting.

After I explained the situation
(though the son already knew most of it during the process of the mess), I said,
"I'm sorry, but I can't live with your father anymore, so I want you to choose which one of us you want to go with." After a brief silence, my son said this.

"A man's cheating is just instinct, right? It's made so that he can sow his seeds as much as he wants. Dad, what do you think?"

Hearing this, my husband's spirits lifted, thinking his son was on his side.

I felt despair, thinking my son was going to leave me.

However, those feelings were overturned by my son's follow-up words to my husband's reply.

Son
"I see. Then, Dad, that means you're not a human, but an animal that can only act on instinct. I am a human child, not an animal."

Saying that, he moved from where he was sitting between us and sat down next to me.

I was surprised and looked at my son's face.

My husband was stunned, as if he had been betrayed after thinking his son was on his side.

Until then, my son hadn't shown much emotion on his face, but he was clearly showing disgust toward my husband.

Because of that, my son decided to live with me.

Since the house was in my husband's name, we had to move out, but I was able to get appropriate alimony from him, so I wouldn't have to worry about living expenses for the time being.
