Words from an Unforgettable Friend
No. 328 The story introduced this time
Here, I compile stories that have become topics of conversation on the internet and in the news as "stories so moving they bring tears to your eyes," along with videos uploaded to YouTube and other platforms.
The story I am introducing this time is a post by a man who says he was bullied in high school, but was able to deal with the bullying thanks to a friend who was the only one who treated him normally, and he writes about that time.
Regarding the time of the post, I was able to confirm the post on
a summary site as July 15, 2009, but I apologize if that is incorrect. There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.

When I was in high school, I was being bullied in class, but there was one guy who treated me normally. He didn't go out of his way to be kind, nor did he pity me; he was just completely normal. However, just by having a connection with me, he too was starting to become a target of the bullying. At one point, I told him to just leave me alone because I couldn't cause him any more trouble, but he insisted, saying, "Is there any such thing as it being a nuisance just to talk to someone normally? You're talking about what the people around us think, but I only follow what I believe is right."
He wouldn't listen. It was an unexpectedly happy thing to hear, but that made me want to involve him even less. When I said that it couldn't be helped because it would be over if I just endured it, he said, "What do you mean it can't be helped? There's no such thing. I forget whose words these are, but sometimes people value their lives so much that they waste their existence. Like you right now. It's not that everything is fine as long as you're safe. Sometimes, isn't there something you have to stand up to, even if it means you might die?" I was shocked when I heard these words.
I am ashamed to say that this was the first time I thought, "I have to do something."
"The direct cause of the situation surrounding you right now is not you. So you are not at fault. However, it is also meaningless if you do not stand up for yourself. If you stand up to them, I will lend you my strength, even if it's not enough." I was crying by this point.
I asked why he would go that far for me. "Because I believed it was the right thing to do." Having finally made up my mind, I got into a scuffle in the classroom while involving him (or perhaps I was the one who got involved), and after that, the bullying faded away. I will never forget any of the words he said to me. After graduation, when I asked him again why he helped me, it was because his older brother had committed suicide due to the suffering of being bullied.

There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce it. *It seems there are other videos besides the one I am introducing.
Video
I was unable to find a video made based on this story. As soon as I find one, I will post it and introduce it.
