The Story of How My Brother-in-Law Became My Older Brother-in-Law
No. 930 The story introduced this time
Here, I compile stories that have become topics on the internet or in the news, along with videos uploaded to YouTube and other platforms, as "stories so moving they bring tears to your eyes."
The story I am introducing this time is a post by a man who describes how, even after his wife died in an accident, his relationship with her younger brother (his brother-in-law) continued, and eventually, that brother-in-law became his older brother-in-law.
There was a video based on this story, so I will introduce that as well.
Regarding the time of posting
Past logsI confirmed the post from March 11, 2015, from what is published in the, but I apologize if I am mistaken.

Sorry for the long post
Here is the story of how my brother-in-law became my older brother-in-law.
I am 29 years old, a company employee in Tokyo
My current wife is 23, an office worker in the Tokyo suburbs
My brother-in-law is 25, a company employee in a neighboring prefecture
My late wife was 24 (at the time), a former company employee
My late wife was a classmate from university, and through the connection of taking the same lecture as students, we became friends -> boyfriend and girlfriend -> both got jobs -> married at 24.
At the time, we didn't have money, and both our parents were in the countryside, so we just took photos in a wedding dress and that was it.
Looking back now, I think I wish we had held a wedding ceremony even if we had pushed ourselves.
Six months after we got married, I was at work when I got a call on my cell phone, telling me that my wife had been hit by a car and had hit her head.
I rushed to the hospital in a panic, but there was a part of me that optimistically thought she surely wouldn't die.
But in front of the operating room was my brother-in-law, who was a university student in Tokyo at the time, and when our eyes met, he muttered, "...It's no good."
At that moment, the doctor came in front of me and said, "You are the husband, right? I'm sorry, but..."
From there, I just cried and cried, and after that, I kept remembering memories with my wife, and the apology from the driver who hit her, the death certificate, and the funeral preparations all felt like someone else's business, and they proceeded smoothly from one thing to the next.
However, I did say, "Please use good flowers for the funeral."
I clearly remember the thought crossing my mind that, for the last time, I wanted to do this for my wife who loved flowers.
After that, I spent the 49 days like a hollow shell, and when I finally started to find food delicious about six months later and began to think about the future, 3.11 happened.
To be continued.

Sorry for the consecutive posts
My parents' home is in Kansai, but my wife's parents' home was right in Tohoku.
I hurriedly contacted my wife's parents' home, but couldn't get through, so I called my brother-in-law.
My brother-in-law reported on Twitter that all of my wife's relatives were safe.
However, my wife's parents' home needed to be rebuilt due to the earthquake.
I was relieved for the moment, but watching the news afterward and seeing many people experiencing sad thoughts and anxious lives, I thought, "Since all of Japan is sad right now, I have to do something too," and when I contacted my wife's parents' home to see if there was anything I could do to help, they said, "Don't worry about us, please put your own happiness first."
Even though my wife's parents had lost their daughter six months ago, their house was destroyed, and people they knew had likely died, when I asked if there was anything, they said, "It looks like it will be difficult to send money to our son (my brother-in-law) due to the house rebuilding and various preparations, so please help him."
Actually, my brother-in-law and I have similar hobbies and things we like, and it's not painful to be together, so I asked him if he would like to move into my house.
At first he was hesitant, but since it was a busy time for research and job hunting, and it would be hard to take on more part-time work, our life living together as two men began.
As expected, unlike marriage, it was a life between men, so there were days we didn't see each other, the house got messy, and there were various troubles, but I think we were able to live with a good balance while laughing together.
In the end, my brother-in-law graduated from university and continued to live with me even after becoming a working adult. (It was fun, so I was the one who asked him to stay. Haha)
One time while we were living like that, my brother-in-law came to consult with me, saying he wanted to marry his current girlfriend.
I had met her several times, and she was a soft-spoken woman who was also considerate, so I thought her parents would approve, and I pushed him, saying I would support him.
And as I thought, the marriage talk for my brother-in-law proceeded smoothly, and the date for the engagement ceremony was decided in the blink of an eye.
My brother-in-law and his girlfriend asked me to attend the meal after the engagement ceremony, which also served as a family meeting, in place of my late wife, and I readily agreed.

This is the last one, sorry
At the meal, there were my wife's parents and me, and on her side, her father had already passed away, so her mother and younger sister attended.
My brother-in-law introduced me, saying, "To me, who always said I wanted an older brother, this is the proud older brother my sister finally granted me," and tears started falling, and when I tried to stand up from my seat, her younger sister handed me a handkerchief.
I remember well thinking that she was a solid person even though she was still a university student.
That was the end of it at the meal, but I started seeing her younger sister frequently due to wedding preparations and my brother-in-law's couple moving into their new home, and I started to become aware of her, thinking she was a good girl who could be considerate just like her older sister.
However, I still felt guilty toward my late wife, and I thought that dating or anything like that was wrong, but my brother-in-law said to me lightly, "Isn't it fine as long as you don't forget my sister?" and I convinced myself that it was okay to have a different kind of love, so I started dating her younger sister.
After dating for a year, I told her younger sister about my late wife, my feelings, and the future, and proposed to her.
I was truly happy when I received her reply, which was like a line from a drama: "I know your late wife is on your right side, so please let me be on your left side."
We registered our marriage at the end of last year, and although the date for the ceremony is undecided, I have told my current wife that I definitely want to do it.
I think the fact that the person who was my "brother-in-law" changed positions to become my "older brother-in-law" is our own story that never fails.

I am 35.
Thank you for reading despite the long and poor writing.
Today, four years after the disaster, I talked to my former parents-in-law on the phone.
We had talked about the marriage before, and they said, "We are truly happy that we still have a connection as relatives even if you remarry."
They also said that since my meeting with my current wife was because I attended as a proxy for my late wife, my late wife must have brought us together.
My current wife caught the bouquet at my brother-in-law's wedding, so we will take a year to prepare for our wedding ceremony slowly.
There is no story about taking off pants.
If I had to say, after my brother-in-law got married, when I was organizing his luggage, I found women's underwear in a paper bag, and I couldn't tell if it was my late wife's or something my brother-in-law's girlfriend (now my sister-in-law) had left behind when she stayed over, so I had trouble disposing of it.
