Hey, haven't you been slacking off on catching mice lately? You're always just sleeping.
No. 341 The story introduced this time
The story introduced this time is a post detailing a situation that occurred after I said to the cat I keep for pest control, "Hey, haven't you been slacking off on catching mice lately? You're always just sleeping," which led to an unbelievable outcome.
Regarding the posting date, I confirmed the post from October 29, 2011, on a
summary site, but I apologize if it is incorrect.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.
Post content
I will post it including some responses. The original poster's parts are in bold.

Since we are farmers, we keep cats purely as working cats for mouse extermination.
One night, my two-year-old black-and-white cat was sleeping soundly on the living room sofa with a blissful look on its face, so I couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark: "Hey, haven't you been slacking off on catching mice lately? You're always just sleeping."
The moment I said that, the cat's eyes flew wide open and it started staring at me.
It kept watching me.
It turned its head around to watch me as I walked around the room.
It watched me the whole time until I went upstairs to sleep.
When I woke up the next morning and left my room, there it was in front of the door... a mouse.
And not just any mouse, but a brown rat, which it usually doesn't catch. (It usually catches harvest mice.)
I apologized, of course.
To the cat.
I said I was sorry for being sarcastic.
Cats are scary.

"Hey, haven't you been slacking off on catching mice lately? You're always just sleeping..."
Huh? What did you say?
While you, my servant, are reading manga and eating snacks and being lazy,
I am properly catching the mice that target the barn.
I even handle the disposal perfectly because I don't want bugs to breed.
If you wanted to see me work that badly, I'll bring you proof.
You can handle the cleanup yourself.
The next morning, I caught a nasty brown rat and left it in front of the room.
The servant apologized with their mouth, but
they still haven't brought me a gift of apology.
I wonder what I should leave for them tomorrow.

My father had that done to him a long time ago.
He was the type to say one word too many, so I think it was a good lesson for him.

It really happened to me. Just like that.
The next day it was a pigeon. And it was inside my room, placed at the foot of my bed.
The first time with the mouse, I was like, "Oh, were you mad? Sorry!" but when the pigeon was placed there, I was genuinely creeped out and apologized for real, saying, "I'm sorry for saying such a stupid thing. I'm sorry. Please forgive me."
There wasn't a next time, so I'd like to believe it forgave me...

Well, it's like the human police,
it might look like a waste at first glance,
but having them patrol every day does have a certain deterrent effect.
YouTube
There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce it.
*It seems there are other videos besides the one I am introducing.
