My family was a single-parent household and we were poor, so I couldn't buy a Famicom...
I was so jealous of the kids who had one.

When lunch money went missing in my class in the 6th grade, I was the first one suspected, with people saying, "The kid who doesn't have a Famicom is suspicious."

I still can't forget the sad look in my mother's eyes when I cursed and said, "I wish I hadn't been born into a poor family!"...

I wanted one so badly that I delivered newspapers in junior high school to save up money.

I thought I could finally play with it, but when I got in front of the game section at Nichii, I decided not to buy it.

Instead, I bought an Asics jersey for my third-grade sister. She had been wearing my hand-me-downs, folded up, until then.

I bought hand cream for my mother. Her hands were always chapped.

I got married last year, and the day before the wedding, my mother showed me a rusted hand cream tin that she had been keeping carefully.

I cried... It was the first time I said, "Thank you for giving birth to me."
