First Sports Day
No. 546 The story introduced this time
Here, we feature stories that have become topics on the internet and in the news as "stories so moving they bring tears to your eyes," along with videos uploaded to YouTube and other platforms.
The story introduced this time is a post by a mother about the first sports day her sickly son participated in.
Regarding the time of the post, it was published on a
summary site on October 25, 2008, so it is assumed the actual post was made before that.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.

I went to my son's sports day the other day, for the first time.
And so, for the first time in his life, I saw my son participating in the entrance march of the sports day.
He's already in the fourth grade, though.
Honestly, at first, I thought watching my own child's sports day would be easy.
Because everyone else is watching it normally, brightly, and happily.
You know, I was wrong.
That is not something for us parents to watch casually.
It's divine, it's something for gods to watch.
When the entrance march started, I was so incredibly nervous that I crept up behind the other parents, set up my camera, and peeked out slowly.
It took me about 10 seconds.
Then I got all nervous and scared, so I backed away.
Then my husband said, "Let's go further to the front and watch properly!"
I am not one to make the same mistake twice.
So I moved forward.
Yes, I set up my camera in the very front row, alright.
I forgot everything else, looked through the viewfinder, and searched for my son.
Since sports days are held during the rainy season or the long autumn rains, I was thinking about how this was his first sports day attendance in the fourth grade because he had always been hospitalized or bedridden at home until now, and about the time his heart almost stopped while being transported in an ambulance and I screamed "Nooooo!!", and how I was already teary-eyed while making lunch this morning, and various other things.
After all, my husband told me to watch from the front.
And then, it became a huge deal.
I was crying so much.
My nose stung so much I thought it might fall off, and I was sobbing uncontrollably.
Even looking through the camera, everything was blurry and I couldn't see my son at all.
It was like the windshield of a car driving at 100 km/h on a highway under a heavy rain warning with broken wipers.
I was definitely going to crash.
Then I looked to the side and my husband was sniffling and sobbing with great intensity.
The parents around us were completely put off.
I'm really sorry.
Honestly, I thought, "Dad will do the video, Mom will do the photos, we'll take tons of best shots!"
I wish I hadn't made such a big boast and had just honestly watched from the corner while crying secretly.
I regretted from the bottom of my heart that I had come out to the front row.
But after the sports day ended, with eyes red from crying along with my 183cm tall husband, I said,
"It's so hot! My face got all red from the sunburn. That's why I hate sports days under the blazing sun."
I'm saying things like that.
We really are a pathetic, silly couple.
God, thank you so much.

Since there was a video created based on this story, I will introduce a part of it.
