The Cake Plushie
No. 59 The story I'm introducing this time
"A cake plushie I won at a UFO catcher in an arcade on my way home from a company drinking party. Since nobody wanted it, I had no choice but to take it home, and when I gave it to my mother whose birthday was coming up, she was so happy..."
What I'm introducing this time is a post from a man who regrets how he treated his mother after she was so happy to receive a cake plushie he gave her casually.
※Regarding the time of the post
Since I was able to confirm the post from 2008 on what appears to be a summary site, it is likely that the actual post was from 2008 or earlier.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so
I will introduce that as well.

On the day I got my first bonus after starting my job, I went out drinking with everyone at work.
I was dead drunk, and when I went to the arcade, there was a UFO catcher with a cake-shaped plushie.
I spent about 3,000 yen to win one, and when I tried to give it to a female colleague I was interested in, she said, "I don't want it."
Not knowing what to do, I just put it in my bag and brought it home.
When you pressed the strawberry part of the cake, it played an electronic melody of "Happy Birthday."
Since my mother's birthday was coming up, I gave it to her, saying casually, "Mom, here you go."
I had only given her a birthday present two or three times in my life. I was too embarrassed.
My mother looked surprised, but accepted it with a big smile. When I taught her, "If you press here, a melody plays," she listened to the Happy Birthday song over and over.
Two years later, on my mother's birthday. The morning after I worked until late at night because work was tough, I had 20 minutes left until I had to wake up. Those 20 minutes of morning sleep were precious.
Yet, I heard an annoying electronic sound by my ear. It was that cake plushie.
My mother was standing there, saying, "The melody won't stop, please do something about it."
"I don't know. I'm sleepy, so get out," I said, and my mother left the plushie by my pillow.
With the Happy Birthday melody blaring loudly, I snapped and
"Don't mess with me, it's noisy!" I said, and threw the plushie into the hallway.
My mother stood there stunned as she picked up the plushie. The melody had stopped playing.
I noticed that my mother had tears in her eyes, but I just crawled back into bed.
Breakfast was silent. Feeling awkward, I left for work quickly.
Since then, my mother has never mentioned that plushie. But I know. It is quietly tucked away in the chest of drawers in the closet. That was about eight years ago.
My mother is still alive, but I deeply regret what I did at that time. I want to fix that plushie somehow.
Does anyone know? A small circuit about the size of a button battery that plays an electronic Happy Birthday melody when pressed. If anyone knows where it's sold, please tell me. I'm begging you...
YouTube
There were several videos made based on this story, so I will introduce some of them. ※It seems there are other videos besides the ones I am introducing.
