The reason why four meals were served for a family trip of three
No. 940 The story introduced this time
Here, I am writing articles about stories that bring tears to your eyes, which have become topics on the internet and in the news, along with videos uploaded on YouTube and other platforms.
This time, I am introducing a post from a man who was moved to tears by the thoughtfulness of a ryokan (Japanese-style inn) where he stayed while traveling to Izu with his children.
There was a video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.
Regarding the posting date
Source of reprintI confirmed the post date as August 25, 2009, from the information posted there, but I apologize if it is incorrect.

This is a story from about 5 years ago when I went on a trip to Izu.
At the time, my children were 10 and 7 years old, and my wife had passed away 3 years prior.
From the year before that, the ironworks I inherited from my father were in a bit of trouble, and as a single parent with two children, I was running around and exhausted every day.
But since the ironworks had started to recover, I decided to go on a trip for a break.
I was talking with my children, saying things like, 'I wish we could have brought Mom along too. It's already been 3 years since she passed away.'
The attendant must have overheard that.
At dinner that day, she brought an extra tray with about three dishes on it.
Me: 'What is this?'
Attendant: 'This is a kagezen (a meal served for a deceased person). Please enjoy your memories with your wife.'
I was moved to tears by this stylish and kind service.
I shed tears even though I was in front of others.
That night, my smiling wife appeared in my dream.
I woke up feeling happy, thinking that my wife's spirit must have enjoyed the trip too.
I was crying again.
Even though I'm a man who doesn't usually cry.
It was a trip full of tears.
Video
There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce it.
