The Greatest Mentor in My Life
No. 318 The story introduced this time
The story introduced this time is a post by a man who had given up on his beloved baseball due to his family environment, but was able to resume it thanks to his homeroom teacher, detailing the situation at that time and his gratitude.
Regarding the posting date,
summary site I confirmed the post from October 8, 2011, based on a copy-paste, but I apologize if that is incorrect.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.

I had a dream since I was a kid.
"A baseball player."
I loved baseball to death and played it every day.
However, my family environment was the worst; my father was violent and got involved with marijuana, so I was forced to quit the baseball team I was in.
I was able to get into high school, but I couldn't play baseball.
In class, guys from my middle school exposed my family situation, and I was ostracized, always alone.
But there was someone who always reached out to me.
It was Mr. S, who was my homeroom teacher at the time.
Mr. S would always listen to me, and when my mother was busy, he would even eat meals with me.
He was a young, weak-looking, and somewhat pathetic teacher, but I loved him.
One day, I casually talked to him about baseball.
Then the teacher asked me, "If you could, would you want to keep playing baseball forever?" and I nodded.
The teacher just said, "I see..."
One day, when I passed by the staff room after forgetting an assignment at school, I heard Mr. S's loud voice.
Wondering what it was, I peeked in and saw Mr. S prostrating himself before the baseball team advisor.
I wondered if I had done something wrong, so I eavesdropped, and...
He was saying, 'XX (me) really loves baseball. He wants to play baseball from the bottom of his heart. It might be selfish of me, but please let XX join the baseball team!'
I was crying so hard I didn't know what to do, so I opened the staff room door and told the teacher, 'It's okay now... thank you, teacher.'
Even then, the teacher wouldn't stop kneeling.
He said, 'Please let this kid make some memories.'
I couldn't help but yell at the teacher, 'Why would you go this far for a total stranger!'
Then the teacher said, 'Don't give up on your dreams at your age! You want to play baseball, right?' Hearing that, I desperately begged him to let me play baseball with him too.
The advisor gave the okay, and I was finally able to join the baseball team.
I didn't become a regular, but it was a three-year period I was extremely satisfied with.
If it weren't for Mr. S, I wouldn't have been this satisfied, and I'm sure I would have dropped out of school.
Even though Mr. S suffered from leukemia, it got worse, and he is no longer in this world, but I love him to death.
Even though he was bad at sports when he couldn't play baseball, he would play catch with me and even hit grounders for me.
Teacher, thank you so much. You are the greatest mentor in my life.
