You found a good job, didn't you
No. 148 The story introduced this time
Here, I am writing articles about stories that have become topics on the internet and in the news as "stories so moving they bring tears to your eyes," along with videos uploaded to YouTube and other platforms.
The story I am introducing this time is a post by a man who regrets that although his mother raised him single-handedly, he spent his days idly obsessed with PC games instead of finding a job.
Regarding the posting date:
I found a copy-paste version on a summary site dated December 28, 2004, so it is likely the actual post was made on or before that date.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce that as well.

Before I even entered elementary school, my father died in a traffic accident, and my mother raised me single-handedly.
Because we were poor, I failed to get into a prefectural high school and couldn't afford to attend a private one, so I went to a part-time high school.
After graduating from high school, I couldn't find a job and spent my days idling away.
To me, my mother would mutter to herself, "You'll find a good job eventually," while forcing a bright smile.
One day, my mother muttered, "Is it hard to find a job if you can't even use a computer?" and took me to an electronics store to buy a computer on credit.
The store also handled the internet connection.
On the way home, my mother laughed and said, "250,000 yen... this is the first time I've spent such a large amount of money since your father died."
To pay off the loan, my mother started working until late at night.
As for me, I found a free online game, and because it was so much fun, day after day,
I just kept playing games.
My mother, assuming that I was always at the computer to learn, would say,
"Have you gotten better at the computer? I hope you find a good job," and smile.
One day, my mother collapsed at work and was taken to the hospital.
I pedaled my beat-up bicycle for over an hour to reach the hospital.
When she saw me, my mother sat up in bed and smiled, saying, "It's just overwork."
She wiped my sweaty forehead with a towel, saying, "Once you get good at the computer and find a good job, you'll be able to buy a car."
A few days later, the results of the detailed examination came back.
The doctor told me, "It's acute leukemia, and she only has about three months left to live," and my mind went blank.
I felt pathetic for having been a burden to my mother and for betraying her expectations by just playing games lately.
On the way home, as I pedaled my bicycle, memories of my mother flashed through my mind one after another.
When I got home, I put my account and all my items up for sale via RMT.
Since the price was quite low, I found a buyer immediately.
The next day, I used that money to buy her favorite cheesecake and yogurt at a nice shop.
When I visited her hospital room and took out the cheesecake, my mother was surprised and asked, "Where did you get the money?"
I lied, "I earned 80,000 yen from a computer side job."
My mother smiled happily from the bottom of her heart and said, "You've gotten good at the computer, so you found a good job, didn't you?"
Her smile, which trusted me completely, was painful, and I looked down.
About two weeks later, on the morning of that day, my mother passed away.
While I was cleaning up her small belongings alone in the empty hospital room, a nurse kindly offered words of comfort.
"I heard you're good with computers; your mother used to brag about it almost every day."
As soon as I heard those words, tears welled up.
I shook with emotion and continued to cry out loud.

There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce a few.
*It seems there are other videos besides the ones I am introducing.
