If he was happy, then those left behind are happy too
No. 234 The story introduced this time
Here, we feature stories that have become topics on the internet and in the news as "stories so good they make you cry," along with videos uploaded to YouTube and other platforms.
The story introduced this time is a post by a woman who, one year after the death of her husband who passed away happily while battling an illness, writes about that situation and her current state of mind.
There was a video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.
Regarding the posting date
Summary siteI confirmed the post date as February 3, 2006, from what is posted on the site, but I apologize if that is incorrect.
Post content
My husband died at the beginning of last year.
It was colon cancer.
He passed away leaving behind our two daughters.
He only lived for six months after the tumor was discovered.
He was only 36.
Even though he had his whole life ahead of him.
Even after being told his life expectancy, on days he felt well, he went out a lot with the children.
He was a workaholic and not good at interacting with children, but after quitting his job, he spent all his time with them.
We also took a trip to Hokkaido in the autumn. We took many photos and videos.
However, when winter came, he grew weaker and weaker.
He was forced to be hospitalized, but in his hospital bed, he would draw pictures with the children, read them picture books, and play 'Pretty Cure' with them.
Although the children were still in kindergarten, they seemed to realize that their father was dying.
As proof, they innocently said, 'Daddy is going to heaven soon, right?'
'Daddy, does it hurt? I'll rub it for you.'
'How can I make Daddy's pain fly away?'
He would smile bitterly as he watched his daughters, who had troubled looks on their faces while rubbing their father's stomach with their small hands.
'I love you, Daddy. I'll love you forever. Even if you go to heaven, I'll love you foreeeever.'
He would laugh weakly and cry when the children suddenly hugged him like that.
The children would go to the hospital as soon as kindergarten ended and stay until night.
Every single day, they talked and spent time happily.
Before he lost consciousness, he said,
'I'm sorry. But, I'm glad I realized how precious my children are.'
That's right.
He died happily.
If he was happy, then those left behind are happy too.
A year later, I've finally been able to think that way, in a sense.
