The Teddy Bear
No. 207 The story introduced this time
Here, I am compiling stories that have become topics on bulletin boards like 2channel (now 5channel) and elsewhere, along with videos uploaded to YouTube, as "stories so moving they bring tears to your eyes."
The story introduced this time is a post from a woman who lost her father when she was in the second grade of elementary school, and who was moved to tears by the "mother's thoughts and determination" she heard from her mother when she was an adult and about to leave her hometown.
Regarding the posting date, I confirmed it as July 15, 2009 from a
summary site, but I apologize if this is incorrect.
There was a YouTube video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.

I read this thread in the middle of the night and it was a mistake ゚(ノд`゚)゚・。
I'll post mine too.
My father died in an accident when I was in the second grade of elementary school.
This is a story from about a month after that.
It was around the time when the hustle and bustle of the wake and funeral had finally settled down, and our family's feelings had finally calmed down.
One morning, my mother said, "We're taking the day off school today and going to the zoo," and the four of us sisters were surprised and overjoyed.
We ate at a restaurant, played at the zoo until it closed, and stopped by Toys "R" Us on the way home.
Our family was poor and there were four sisters, so we had never received presents for birthdays or Christmas.
Even so, my mother said at that time, "I'll buy each of you one thing you like."
The sisters were overjoyed again and each put one thing they liked into the basket.
I remember very clearly that at that time, for some reason, I felt strongly, "If I get something bought for me here, I'll never be able to see my father again."
I wanted a stuffed animal, but I was stubborn and said, "I don't need anything," and I stood still in front of the shelf lined with many stuffed animals.
Then, without saying a word, my mother put a teddy bear into the basket and paid for it at the register.
On the way home in the car, my mother handed me the stuffed animal.
Time passed, I became an adult, and I was going to leave my hometown for work.
The day before I moved, my mother and I went out for a drink together.
When we were both tipsy, my mother said suddenly,
"Do you remember the day we took the day off school and went to the zoo?
At Toys "R" Us, you were stubborn,
and said you didn't need anything, didn't you?
From the time your father died until that day,
more than losing your father,
I was scared and anxious about raising you little ones alone after your father passed away.
But that wasn't the case, was it?
Seeing you at that time,
I thought, 'Wow, you're quite grown up, aren't you?'
The tension in my shoulders eased.
I didn't think, 'I'll protect you!',
but rather, 'Let's do our best together!'
Thank you for not acting innocently excited at that time."
Even now, I tear up when I think about my mother's thoughts and determination when she put the teddy bear in the basket.
Now everyone is married (except me lol) and surrounded by grandchildren, and my mother seems happy.
I'm really sorry it turned into a longer post than I thought.

There was a video made based on this story, so I will introduce a few.
*It seems there are other videos besides the ones I am introducing.
