I was diagnosed with late-stage III colon cancer.

My lymph nodes were swollen, and metastasis was a strong possibility.

It was a pretty dire situation.

When I told my wife, 'I'm sorry! The surgery might not be in time,' my wife, she's an amazing person.

For two full weeks, I spent as much time as possible with my wife and my daughter, who is almost two years old.

In August, I was hospitalized for surgery.

The doctor was surprised at my recovery, considering how much of my colon and surrounding lymph nodes were removed, so it looks like I'll be fine for the time being.

Just as I was about to say the lines I had prepared to my wife who came to pick me up at the hospital, she said, 'I want to go to the hospital for a bit, too.'

Discouraged, I just walked unsteadily and got into the car she was driving.

The place the car arrived at was the parking lot of an obstetrics and gynecology clinic.

She looked at me in the passenger seat and smiled mischievously, saying, 'We don't have time to die.'

I was so stunned that I ended up failing to say what I wanted to yesterday.
