My Little Sister Shino and My Daughter: A Story of the Many Happinesses Shino Brought Me
No. 5 The story introduced this time
Here, I am writing about stories that have become topics on the internet or in the news, which have also been uploaded as videos on YouTube and elsewhere, as "stories so good they bring tears to your eyes."
The story introduced this time is a post by a man who writes about how, after his sickly younger sister, who was much younger than him, passed away when he was 17, mysterious and happy things began to happen one after another.
There was a video based on this story, so I will introduce it as well.
Regarding the time of posting
Summary siteI confirmed October 26, 2004, from what is posted on the site, but I apologize if that is incorrect.

My little sister died when I was 17. That was eight years ago now. She was only six. Being the youngest and with only brothers, my older brother and younger brother both doted on her. But she was sickly from the start, and small. Still, she was incredibly cute, and she would cry over the smallest things. She would say, "Nii-chan, Nii-chan." She was always following me around. She loved the shortcake from the cake shop in town, so about once a week, I would buy her some with my part-time job money. The way she would smile and say "Delicious!" while eating it was so cute, just incredibly cute... When I heard my sister had collapsed from a seizure, I sped on my motorcycle from school, picked up my younger brother at junior high, and went straight to the hospital. She was sleeping, hooked up to various machines. My mom and grandma were praying to my grandpa, saying, "It's no use anymore..." "Don't take Shino! Please!" My grandpa had passed away shortly after my sister was born. My grandpa, who had passed away without ever holding Shino, had been saying "I want to hold Shino" until the very end. When I went and called out, "Shino! Shino!!", she regained consciousness. "Nii-yan, you know, Shino wants to eat shortcake." "I'll buy you plenty, so don't die! Don't go to sleep! Stay awake!"
I bought every single shortcake the shop had. But my sister died. When I bought the shortcakes and opened the hospital room door, my sister was smiling, and I said, "I bought them! Shino, eat up and get better!" When I had her take one bite, "Delicious... Thank you, Nii-yan." She smiled, closed her eyes, and that was it. Immediately, the machine went beep-----. Even using electric shocks was useless. When she was put in the coffin, she was wearing the navy blue dress with lots of frills that my mom had made for her. We also put in the beanbag toy that Grandma had made for her. We also put in her favorite teddy bear. I couldn't recover for about a year. On the wall, there was a picture my sister had given me for my birthday titled "Nii-yan and the others' faces." She was only six, so it was poorly drawn, but we were all laughing as brothers. It was a picture of my sister wearing a headband, laughing between me and my oldest brother. Every time I saw that, I would start crying. But that was when strange things started happening in our house.
In the middle of the night, I thought I heard voices from Grandma's room, and Grandma (who wasn't senile and had a sixth sense) said, "Oh, Grandpa, you brought Shino with you. Yes, she likes that dress, doesn't she? Oh, is that so? Are you happy about this?" When I looked through a gap in the paper sliding door, Grandma was smiling. She was even nodding along. She even brought out tea and juice to the table. It was the bottled cider from an old local shop that my sister loved. I ended up opening Grandma's room. Then, without even being startled, Grandma said, "Hiroto, Grandpa and Shino are here, say hello." She even poured tea for me. "Once you drink this, go back to where you came from," she said, and Grandma was smiling. Well, that was just the beginning. When my mom was making pancakes for my younger brother's snack in the kitchen, half of one pancake from the plate she had prepared would disappear. There were teeth marks on it. It was clearly the size of Shino's mouth. "That child loved pancakes too," Grandma and Mom would say, shedding tears. Also, everyone in the house has heard Shino's voice while at home. My dad said, "She probably loves this house and won't leave."
Then, I started living alone in Tokyo because I got a job. Around that time, I met a woman I liked and was hesitant about whether to confess my feelings. One day, in a dream, we were sitting on a bench in the park I often went to with my sister. "Nii-yan, do you like that person?" My sister was smiling, wearing the dress like a French doll that Mom had made. She was pointing at the person I liked, who was sitting on the bench across from us reading a book. When I answered "Yes," she laughed and said, "It's okay, Shino will do something about it." Then, some time later, that woman confessed her feelings to me. And that's how we got to where we are now. Some time after we got married, when we went to my parents' house to visit the graves of Shino and Grandpa, my wife said at the graveside, "By the way, something strange happened." "What?" "Before I confessed to you, I met a strange child. I was shopping in Shinjuku when a little girl called out to me, wearing a navy blue dress with white frills... and she said, 'Do you like Nii-yan?' 'Who is Nii-yan?' I asked, and she said, 'It's okay, you're going to be Nii-yan's bride, and Nii-yan likes you too,' and then she disappeared somewhere. And after that child disappeared, strangely enough, your face popped into my head."
"...Shino..." was the only thing I could think of. When I told my wife about that, she laughed and said "No way," but when we returned to my parents' house and she saw the photo of my sister displayed in the living room, she was shocked and said, "This child!!" Ah, Shino brought us together. Then, after a while, my wife got pregnant. But it was a bit dangerous. One day, while nursing my wife at the hospital, I fell asleep. Then, in my dream, Shino appeared again. "Nii-yan, you're going to be a dad." "That's right." It was the park again. This time, my wife with a big belly was sitting next to me. Reading a pregnancy magazine. "Shino will protect Nii-yan's child," she said, and when my wife said, "Please do," she went into my wife's belly. Or rather, "disappeared" is more accurate. When I woke up in the morning and told my wife about it, it seems she had the same dream. And my wife laughed and said, "When I said 'please,' she went into my belly..." Our child was born safely. A healthy girl. She will be three this year. Her gestures resemble my sister's. The way she laughs, the way she talks, and so on. Also, her personality, and the things she likes and dislikes. I mean, she must be my sister's reincarnation. I mean, I've become a doting parent. I quit mahjong and pachinko, and I started coming home early. When I go back to my parents' house, everyone dotes on her. Grandma is super excited. Dad bought a digital camera and a digital video camera for his first grandchild. Mom won't let her go when we bring her over. My daughter, who is very energetic and full of mischief, grow up healthy. Well, it's peaceful in our house.
