Reconciliation Theater, Weekly Short-Short Note Prompt, 410 Characters
The neighborhood event's Reconciliation Theater.
I was made to stand on stage with my neighbor, Mr. Tajima. He is the person I had a huge fight with two months ago over taking out the trash.
In the center stood a master of ceremonies in a tuxedo.
"Now, our two stars of the day! First, let's have a reenactment of the anger!"
The lights dimmed, and a spotlight shone on Mr. Tajima and me. Reluctantly, we shouted the lines from back then at each other. Applause and laughter erupted from the audience.
It was just like a comedy sketch.
The MC shouted.
"Now, audience, who do you think was in the wrong? Please decide with your applause!"
Applause came from both sides in equal measure.
"It's a draw. Please forgive each other! Now, embrace and reconcile!"
Reluctantly, I embraced Mr. Tajima. The audience erupted in thunderous applause.
I couldn't help but laugh. Mr. Tajima muttered while laughing, "This is ridiculous. But it feels good to be the star on stage, doesn't it?"
The next morning, two days' worth of trash bags were left sitting in front of Mr. Tajima's house.
He surely intends to perform in the next show as well.
