Eccentric Ceremony Part 2, Weekly Short-Short Note, 410 characters
I wrote a previous work on this theme, but since it was too hopeless for the beginning of the new year, I am rewriting it into a different piece.

An invitation to the Eccentric Ceremony arrived.
What the heck is an Eccentric Ceremony? I'm not an eccentric, I grumbled, but when I looked closer, it wasn't an invitation, but a draft notice.
It stated that if I didn't participate, I would be arrested.
The venue for the ceremony was in the basement of the city hall.
When the appointed time arrived, there was a heavy sound behind me.
I immediately realized it was the emergency door closing.
A voice flowed from the speaker on the ceiling.
"The government defines citizens as those who possess a specialized ability in something."
It was a businesslike, emotionless voice.
"You are unnecessary."
I heard the sound of someone gasping.
"You are not abnormal people. You are simply ordinary people who have increased too much and are unnecessary. The Eccentric Ceremony is a ritual to change the unnecessary."
Change.
Only that word remained in my ears.
"Skills are not granted in this world. While the technology for reincarnation into another world has not been made public, it is possible to grant skills at the time of reincarnation."
My breathing is difficult. I realize belatedly that it is poison gas. Someone lets out a groan.
My vision slowly darkens. I wonder what kind of cheat awaits me in the other world.
