The Fork God (410 characters) Weekly Short Short Note

The Western Demon Society, where real demons gather, decided to dispatch demons to Japan. Until then, Japan was the only country in the world without demons.

In the country of Japan, there exist eight million gods.
It was feared whether demons could survive by corrupting human hearts while opposing these gods.

Japan had little fraud, and everyone lived in harmony.

The demons were able to live in Japan.
Fraud and bullying of the weak became rampant.

Demons always carry a three-pronged weapon called a pitchfork. One hundred years after arriving in Japan, a tsukumogami (a spirit) inhabited that pitchfork.

"Demons are fallen angels, aren't you? You were originally angels. Do you feel no guilt for making humans unhappy?"

The pitchfork spoke to the demon in every possible way.
"Which makes you feel better: seeing humans' angry or crying faces, or seeing their smiling faces?"

Little by little, the demons' hearts changed, and before they knew it, they had all become angels.

And so, Japan returned to being a peaceful country, just as it was in the past.
