A Handy App: Open Shell Menu

When Windows changed to Windows 8, the Start screen was infuriating. I also hated the Windows 10 Start menu. And now, Windows 11. It's difficult to use. I just really dislike the tiled icon display.
So, I continue to use an app that allows for a classic list view (by 'app' here, I mean a Windows application, not a smartphone app).
It's called Open Shell Menu, and its predecessor was known as Classic Shell Menu; it's an app with quite a history. It is open-source and free to use.
Once installed and launched, there are several settings available, allowing you to choose a style. I have selected the Windows 7 style.
The Windows 7 Start menu is arranged in two vertical columns. The right column lists menus for PC and device settings, making it easy to select and convenient to use.
The menu on the left for selecting individual apps takes time to search through and is slightly difficult to use. Since I use many apps, I use a different app as a launcher. I will write about that another day.
Having used Windows since 3.0, I know its history quite well. Of course, it continues to evolve, but there are parts I wish would remain unchanged.
For those who can relate, give it a try. However, please note that it is not an officially recognized Microsoft app, so use it at your own risk.
