Science Fantasy Essay 'The Silent Fortress: Dreams of Digital Yayoi' Chapter 1: 'The Japanese Archipelago, Quietly Awakening'

◆ Introduction to the Story

The Japanese archipelago before dawn was completely different from its former self. As the struggle for hegemony between great powers intensified and the shadow of nuclear war began to cover the world, Japan made a quiet, yet decisive choice.

'To evolve, we must withdraw from conflict'

Based on that philosophy, it was only thirty years ago that the dome-shaped barrier 'Amagai' (Canopy) that envelops the entire archipelago was activated. The transparent membrane of light glowed faintly like a shimmer in the air, absorbing the noise of the outside world and wrapping the entire archipelago in a protection called 'silence'.

Outside the canopy, the world continues to fight. But inside, a different civilization was budding.

Part of the archipelago slowly detached from the crust, drifting through the atmospheric layers as the floating city 'Tenjo no Mahoroba' (Heavenly Utopia). Another part sank to the seabed, dissolving into the silence of the deep sea as the undersea city of Yamataikoku 'Yamato Shizuku'.

And on the surface, self-sufficient communities have spread. AI reads the soil, and people celebrate the harvest with prayers and songs. Regenerative medicine capsules heal illnesses, and a circular lifestyle has formed a new culture called 'Digital Yayoi'.

At its center is the mobile brain 'Sanada Maru'.

Although it is a massive mobile fortress, its essence is not 'attack' but 'thought'. Sanada Maru moves anywhere on the archipelago, bundles the wisdom of AI and humans, and quietly adjusts the direction of civilization. It is as if the nation itself were a single living organism.

However, this silence is not eternal.

Outside the canopy, the world has not forgiven Japan's 'withdrawal'. The great powers that have lost their hegemony view Japan's technology and civilizational evolution as a threat and are reaching out once again.

The central AI of Sanada Maru, 'Kunitokotachi', was the first to detect this presence.

'--The movements of the outside world are accelerating. The future of the Japanese archipelago will once again be forced to make a choice.'

The land of silence was slowly beginning to wake up for its next evolution.
