On days when my heart is troubled, my family's smiles save me
Today, my heart felt troubled by a sudden moment.
While working at the hospital, I suddenly heard some gossip and negative words.
“I didn't mean it that way.”
“Why would they say something like that?”
I felt a dull ache deep in my chest and felt my heart clouding over.
I am an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person), and I am the type of person who finds it quite difficult to let such words slide.
Even though my head knows I should not let it bother me, my heart cannot quite keep up.
Before I knew it, those words were spinning around in my head over and over, and my feelings sank heavily.
The time I spend with my family becomes a 'resting place' for my heart
On my way home like that.
When I got home, my children welcomed me with cheerful voices saying, “Welcome home!”
As we sat around the dinner table and had idle conversation, I felt the tension in my shoulders suddenly melt away.
“Right now, in this moment, I am okay.”
That sense of relief spread gently through my heart.
Gossip and negative words are very painful.
However, those words do not define 'who I am'.
My family's smiles and my children's innocent behavior gently taught me that.
A few small tricks to protect a sensitive heart
If you have ever had a similar experience, please do not blame yourself by forcing yourself to 'not let it bother you'.
For an HSP, it is perfectly natural for such words to sting.
Here are a few small tricks I was conscious of today:
Distance yourself by chanting in your heart, 'This is the other person's problem.'
Take a deep breath and release the tension in your body.
Feel the 'now' with your family and loved ones.
Place yourself in a time and space where you feel safe.
The pain of words does not disappear immediately, but by creating your own 'resting place for the heart,' your heart will gradually loosen up.
Finally
Today was tough, but it was also a day saved by the smiles of my family and children.
If your heart feels troubled in the same way, pleasetry focusing on the things you cherish and the places where you feel safe.I would be happy if this could be a trigger for your heart to soften, even just a little bit 😊.
