I'm doing "Eye". A performance. That's right.
It's Hoshi.
In April, I will be performing a piece called "Eye" at Sai no Tsuno in Ueda!!
It's a new work.
Written as 'newly created', it's a new work.
This piece is based on Kenji Miyazawa's story "The Shell Fire".
To put it simply, it's a story that doesn't seem to make any sense: Homoi (a rabbit) treasures a jewel called the "Shell Fire" that he received for doing a good deed, but then he gets carried away and starts acting arrogant. In the end, despite having done something quite good, the jewel shatters and Homoi goes blind.
What's bothering me is the ending—why did that happen? Various things have been said about it. Sometimes it's linked to Homoi's father.
If you do something bad, or stray from the path of reason even once, you get blinded. You want to scream, 'That's too much!'
But he does go blind. I don't know the reason, and before you know it, it's happened.
That's why I want to search for the reason, and I want you all to search for it with me.
It's my first solo performance in a while.
I'm going to enjoy it to the fullest.
I think I'll do it without the *inner talk this time.
Instead, I'll do a workshop at the beginning!
Please look forward to it!
*Inner talk refers to a time during the performance when the performer spends 20 to 30 minutes in dialogue with the audience. Based on this inner talk, the ending of the piece shifts into an organic improvisation. It is a style that Hoshipro likes to use.

Theater Performance "Eye"
Original Work: Kenji Miyazawa's "The Shell Fire"
Performer: Yoshiyuki Hoshi

Things like this happen everywhere.
You who understand that well are the most fortunate.
Your eyes will surely get better again.

~About the Work~
"Eye" is one of the sensory organs that appeals to vision. It is an organ for receiving and understanding the phenomena and objects of the world. However, the information obtained from these eyes is not received by everyone in the same way. Seeing through the logic of things and the root of phenomena is also one of the roles of the eyes, but sometimes this ability goes haywire. However, the eyes speak as much as the mouth. Perhaps the information emitted by the eyes has a certain degree of uniformity compared to the subjective information obtained by the eyes.
In the theater performance "Eye", we will first hold a workshop with everyone, and then Yoshiyuki Hoshi will perform a solo performance of "The Shell Fire". Borrowing words from the original work, I hope to think together with the audience about what we are overlooking now and what we must not overlook.

We will hold a workshop to loosen up the body and mind and release you from daily life in preparation for watching the performance.
◯Theater Performance "Eye" (40 minutes)
We will perform a piece based on Kenji Miyazawa's "The Shell Fire". Using words from the original work, we will pose questions about what "what is seen" and "what is not seen" are.
