Meditation Like a Nap
It is said that the activities that consume the most energy in the human body are thinking and digestion.
Even among thinking activities, mental travel between the past and the future consumes 60-80% of the brain's energy.
People who think a lot get tired easily.
On top of that, if you are also dwelling on past regrets or worrying about the future, both your body and brain might be exhausted.
Focus on the now.
Therefore, you should stop thinking about unnecessary things and focus entirely on the action you are currently performing.
When cleaning, focus only on the trash and dust.
When washing dishes, focus on the dishes. Try savoring their colors and shapes.
Especially on the way to work, if you are thinking about worries or complaints, you might get a stomachache, feel pain in your gut, or lose your motivation. You might be exhausted before you even arrive at the office.
Exhale and inhale, focusing on your breathing. Or perhaps the right way to spend your commute is to push work out of your mind and think about fun things or delicious food?
10-Minute Afternoon Meditation
Since the word 'meditation' sounds a bit grand, I take time every day that is like a cross between a nap and meditation.
After lunch, I finish my meal and snacks all at once, and since my brain stops working and my motivation disappears, I do this.
I set a timer for 10 minutes to close my eyes and focus on my breathing.
Let me tell you, you won't be able to reach a state of 'nothingness.' The noise in your head won't settle down.
You might suddenly think, 'Oh, I have to do that,' remember something that makes you angry, or worry about the future.
For now, I observe my noisy brain and follow the thoughts. Like labeling them.
Like saying, 'Okay, one worry!', 'Okay, a mean thought popped up!', 'Okay, one regret served!'
As I repeat inhaling and exhaling,
before I know it, I'm dozing off.
A moment comes when I lose consciousness,
and images start to appear in my brain (dreams).
Exactly 10 minutes.
When I open my eyes with a start at the sound of the timer, my head feels clear and sharp!
The moment just before falling asleep is pleasant.
I stop at 10 minutes because if I go longer, I might fall into a deep nap. If I fall asleep, my body will feel sluggish until it wakes up.
After that, both my head and body feel refreshed, and I can suddenly move efficiently. It is a recommended way to refresh your brain.
