The time when the humidity reaches its peak
Every day, the stifling heat continues.
When you go outside, sweat pours down, and your body feels heavy and sluggish, making it hard to do anything. You may lose your appetite and feel like you just don't want to do anything.
That is perfectly understandable.
From around July 28th to August 1st, we are in the 72 micro-seasons' period of 'Tsuchi Uruoute Mushia-tsushi' (the earth is moist and the heat is humid).
It is the time when the soil is saturated with water and the humidity reaches its peak.
While this is a season of bounty for plants and crops, it is easy for humidity and heat to accumulate in our bodies.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the gastrointestinal tract is the foundation of the body, playing the same role as soil in the natural world.
Therefore, during this season, humidity easily accumulates in the digestive system, making it prone to summer fatigue symptoms such as loss of appetite, a heavy body, and persistent exhaustion.
Try moving your body a little in your daily life, such as by taking a light walk, cleaning, or watering the garden, to work up a gentle sweat and help dissipate the humidity.
Also, foods like corn, edamame, soybeans, black beans, and winter melon help to expel the accumulated humidity from your body.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, bitter melon, and tofu are summer allies that help soothe the heat trapped inside you.
There is no need to push yourself just because it is hot.
'My digestive system is tired today.'
Recognize that, and try choosing things that your body will appreciate.
