Why I make all my articles free, and what's next
I believe that people who post articles on note can be broadly divided into the following three categories.
1. People who make all their articles free
2. People who make all their articles paid
3. People who separate their articles into free and paid
I am in category 1.
This is because I want this note to be a place like a shelter that anyone can use.
In this note, I introduce works from various genres such as books, music, and movies that I like, so some people may have found this note by searching for keywords like author names or titles.
However, aren't there also people who arrived here completely by chance?
For example, some may have stumbled upon this page while fiddling with their smartphones to kill time.
Others may have been trying to distract themselves from a painful reality and wanted to touch the heart of a real person who is living somewhere, even if they don't know their face or name.
And there may be people who, while barely managing to hold onto a smartphone, don't know where they will sleep or find food today.
Would such people go out of their way to pay money to purchase articles by an unknown person like me?
I don't think they would.
I myself have experienced such rock-bottom moments many times over the decades I have lived.
I was filled with a sense of loneliness as if I were the only person in the world.
My wallet and bank account were not just low, they were always in the negative.
When things were tough, some people might rely on their families, but in my case, although my family relationships might look good on the surface, they are actually complicated, so I couldn't rely on them.
What was especially painful was when I had bruises all over my body from the violence of my ex-husband.
Bruises eventually heal, but new ones appear soon enough, and besides, emotional wounds do not heal easily.
Rather than wanting to die, I would vaguely think things like, 'It's my own fault for choosing the wrong way to live,' 'There is no place for me anywhere in this world,' or 'How can I just disappear?'
At such times, I have been hurt by, or conversely, felt relieved by the words of someone whose name and face I do not know, whom I encountered in the vast ocean of the internet.
And, at some point, I began to wish that I could be the latter.
A place where anyone can access from anywhere at any time, and where you can take your mind off things while browsing articles for a while.
I started posting articles on this note because I wanted to increase the number of such places.
However, there is something I want to make clear.
That is, I am by no means trying to criticize others who post paid articles.
After all, those people write many articles with substantial content that truly deserve to be paid for, based on their experience and knowledge to date.
It is simply that my way of thinking differs from theirs.
Sometimes, people who agree with my way of thinking send me tips with messages of support, or perhaps by coincidence, shop on Amazon after clicking the affiliate links posted on this note, and I am helped every month by that income.
Thank you always.
I do not think it is presumptuous to say that the words I continue to write on note can save anyone.
After all, this note is nothing more than a temporary shelter from the rain.
If there is even one person who comes to this note in various situations—when they are having a hard time, when they are sad, when they want to chuckle, or when they just want to kill some time—I will continue to use trial and error to make this a more comfortable place to take shelter from the rain.
I look forward to your continued support.
Now, based on the way of thinking described above, I have decided to go with the policy of "participating" in the "AI Learning Compensation Program" starting August 1st.
When I first learned about this program, to be honest, I thought, "Huh? This might be a bit scary..."
Although there is still much I do not understand about the program, it seems that AI only learns from the text of note articles.
The internet is a world crowded with vast amounts of data.
By posting articles on note, there is a possibility that everyone has already had parts of their articles learned by AI without knowing it.
If they are going to compensate us for that, and if I can use it for living expenses or research costs to continue posting articles on note in the future, isn't that acceptable?
As a result of thinking about it that way, I solidified my policy of "participating."
Besides... I think it would be wonderful if AI could absorb even a little bit of my way of thinking and come to comfort someone who hasn't reached this note yet with kind words.
Therefore, I would like to continue posting articles on this note that will put the hearts of those who read them at ease.
A lot of "likes" for various people, works, and scenery.
I want to continue posting to share that with you.
With a speed and passion that AI learning cannot keep up with.
...I have written at length about things that sound rather arrogant for someone like me, but I often write about the trivial slapstick dramas of my daily life on this note...
I am a person full of contradictions who doesn't even really know what I want to do myself, but please continue to look after me without abandoning me.
