Since "the human brain and body are still in the savanna," let's exercise more. Taking a walk after dropping the kids off at kindergarten is the best.
Today, I am using voice input directly in the note app for the first time.
When using iPhone's voice input, I've had many sad experiences where what I was typing suddenly disappeared, so I've mainly been using Google Keep for voice input.
If I could use Google's voice input directly in the note app in the future, I would be happy because it would eliminate the extra step of "copying from Google Keep and pasting into note." For now, I'll give it a try today ^^
Taking a walk after dropping the kids off at kindergarten was super great.
Now, to the main point. There is something I tried for the first time today. It is,
taking a walk on the way back after dropping the kids off at kindergarten
.
The kindergarten is quite close, just a 3-minute walk from our house. So, I'm grateful that the effort for drop-offs and pick-ups is minimal.
When I used to send my children to nursery school, it was a 7-8 minute bike ride. Moreover, our house is on top of a hill, and the nursery school is at the bottom. On the way back, I had to ride up a decent hill with two children on the bike, which was very difficult, so I feel there is a huge advantage to it being "close."
On the other hand, that also means the distance traveled is reduced. If you ask whether the drop-offs and pick-ups count as exercise... it was a situation where it didn't count at all.
"The human brain and body are still in the savanna," so let's move our bodies more.
I am currently aiming to walk 8,000 steps every day. I was originally heavily influenced by Kazuyo Katsuma, and after finishing this book the other day, that way of thinking was further reinforced!
Among that, there is a phrase that really stuck with me. It is,
"The human brain and body are still in the savanna"
.
In the last few hundred or even few decades, human civilization has developed significantly; food can be delivered to the front door just by tapping a finger without moving the body, and we live in an era where we can work as long as we have a computer.
On the other hand, from a biological and evolutionary perspective, the body and brain do not change in a few hundred years, so the human body and brain remain as they were when living a hunter-gatherer life in the savanna, it says.
That is precisely why it is necessary to move our bodies at least as much as humans did when they started farming, and it is also necessary to live with the understanding that we have brain mechanisms from when we lived under constant threat of starvation, infectious diseases, and murder.
I've digressed a bit, but anyway, it was stated thatby habitually moving the body, not only is the body strengthened, butit suppresses the aging of the brain's hippocampus and other areas, and thanks to that, concentration and memory increase, which can delay brain aging.
Alright! I've decided!
Hona, whose life goal is to have an old age without dementia and to stay beautiful and healthy.
I'm going to move my body more! Hip, hip, hooray!
With that enthusiasm, I decided once again to move my body a little more than I have been.
When should I exercise? How can I make it a routine?
I thought about it, but once I get home, especially in winter, I have to put on so many layers and it's cold outside, so I realized it becomes a hassle to go out again. I was vaguely thinking that maybe I should just take a 10-15 minute walk after dropping my daughter off at kindergarten or before picking her up.
And today, after safely dropping my daughter off at kindergarten and starting to walk away, I thought, "Oh, maybe I'll walk a bit," so I took a long detour and walked for about 15 minutes before heading home. I think I managed to get in about 2,500 steps.
My neighborhood is quite hilly, so I was able to get my heart rate up, and by the time I got close to home, my body felt warm and it felt really good. Plus, since I usually walk with my child or move around for errands, I always take the shortest route and walk the same paths, so there are actually quite a few streets in the neighborhood I never walk on. It was fun to walk down those streets for a change.
Even after I got home, I felt more motivated than usual. And so, I quickly dusted the washroom and finished cleaning the toilet! Yay!
I realized that when I don't have any errands in the morning or when I have a little time before picking my daughter up from kindergarten, taking a 15-minute walk around the neighborhood like this is a great idea, so I think I'll keep doing it.
I'm glad I was able to put what I thought of into practice today and learn about new information and methods!
Using Google voice input directly into the note app seems good.
By the way, regarding the "using Google voice input directly into the note app" method I mentioned at the beginning... it's going well so far! (`・ω・´)b I'm glad I discovered today that I can do voice input directly like this when actually writing articles! ^^
Well, that's all for today.
Thank you for reading until the end!
