On and Off Rain
It was sunny, so I did the laundry and
hung it on the clothesline.
It looked like it would dry quickly in the sun.
Just as I thought that, I heard thunder.
Oh dear, I wonder if it's going to rain.
In the blink of an eye, it turned dark and cloudy.
This is no good, I should bring it inside.
However, the rain didn't come.
I went out to the balcony to read a book.
A single raindrop hit the open page.
Is it finally coming, the rain?
But it still wouldn't start raining.
As soon as I went inside and started listening to music,
I heard the sound of rain pouring down.
I shouted, 'Oh no!' and rushed out,
bringing the laundry in, clothesline and all.
I lined up two chairs with some distance between them,
placed the clothesline across them, and hung the laundry.
Good grief, but I hate it when things are half-dry.
After a while, the sun came out.
Alright, back to the balcony with the clothesline,
please stay sunny, dear weather.
But after a while, it started raining again.
In a panic, I brought the laundry in, pole and all.
What am I doing, playing tag with the laundry?
But then, the rain stopped immediately.
What should I do? I still want to dry it outside.
I'll try hanging it out again. Good grief, just dry already!
However, it started raining yet again.
It's laughable; I have no choice but to laugh.
I brought the laundry inside, pole and all,
and decided that no matter what happened, I would leave it there.
I made that resolution, and by the next morning, the laundry was dry.
