Closing my eyes to look at you
I am looking at the sky after the rain right now.
I have been staying at a hotel since yesterday to make time to organize my thoughts, so this is the sky from the hotel window.
A different view than usual deepened my thoughts and filled me with the energy to work positively on what is in front of me.
This morning, on the hotel bed, I tried doing the yoga poses I always do.
At that moment, I suddenly remembered the phrase,“To open your eyes, you must close them.”
Can you notice when you are not doing well?
The kind of thinking we tend to fall into when work is not going well.
The habits that come out when we are frustrated.
The things we want to eat when we are tired.
I recently discovered another sign of when I am not doing well.
It is “trying not to let things I don't want to see enter my field of vision.”
When I am doing well, I can look people in the eye when I speak, but sometimes my gaze drops downward.
I think that is a state where I don't have the capacity to face things I don't want to see.
People cannot keep their eyes open all the time.
And I don't think it is natural to keep them closed all the time either.
We close our eyes to open them again.
To just look at what is happening in front of us.
To face even inconvenient realities.
To look at the beautiful world and at you.
I want to open my eyes for things like that.
When I am tired, I want to close my eyes, and then open them again.
