Falling in Love / #Ao-Bura Literature Club
"Hey, do you know about the suspension bridge effect?"
After dinner, while drinking tea, my mother suddenly started talking about that. My mother is always so abrupt.
"I know it. It's a psychological effect where you're more likely to develop romantic feelings for someone you're with when you're feeling nervous or excited due to anxiety or fear, right? Why do you ask?" As I answered smoothly, my mother grinned and said.
"Mom and Dad's love was also a 'suspension bridge effect.' Hey, don't you want to hear the story about that time?"
Oh, this is going to be a bad one. In times like this, even if I refuse, she'll tell me anyway. I want to go back to my room and do my homework quickly. But in times like this, I answer cutely, "Yeah, I want to hear it." Because that's less of a hassle. Because the story will end sooner.
"When I was still a high school student, we decided to do a test of courage at school during summer vacation. I'm not good with scary things, but for the sake of my friends, I couldn't refuse and participated."
"Yeah, yeah, and then?"
I want the story to end quickly, so I give a perfunctory response to hurry her along.
"And then, the person I was paired with was your father. We had to go to the science lab in the abandoned school building behind the high school, and I was so, so scared. But at first, we both entered the school building with faces that said, 'It's okay.'"
The hallway was old and looked like the floor might fall through at any moment, and it creaked every time we walked, which was also so, so scary. Every time it creaked, I desperately held back a scream that was about to leak out as we walked.
I couldn't see very well with the flashlight, and it was incredibly scary. When we got near the science lab, something black scurried past our feet. I couldn't take it anymore and jumped onto your father, screaming, 'Eek!'
Then, the hallway couldn't withstand our combined weight, the floor gave way with a loud crunch, and we fell right into the space under the floor, which was even more of a surprise. Your father protected me, saying, 'Are you okay?' He was so cool. At that moment, we fell in love. Hey, isn't this the suspension bridge effect?"
At that moment, my father, who was watching the news on TV while drinking tea next to my mother, joined the conversation.
"We didn't fall in love. We fell into a hole."

Good evening. This is Hareruya ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ.
This time, there are no combined techniques. That was the rule.
It turned out to be a taste quite different from everyone else's work. It's the usual short-short story by Hareruya ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ.
