My story of paying for a course while attending a friend's wedding
Good evening. This is Hiyo🌷
・Working as a childcare worker for 10 years while doing a side hustle
・Started with zero experience in content business
・Building an automated sales machine online bit by bit while doing morning activities
I am sharing how a business beginner with zero knowledge gained time and money.
Today, I want to talk about...
“I'll learn properly after this is over”
“I'll pay for it once things settle down”
——It's a story about people who are waiting for a convenient time like that.
I spent money on trips, but kept putting off spending money on learning
To be honest,
I had a habit when it came to how I spent money.
Whether it was for trips or things I wanted,
I would think, “Maybe I'll buy it when my bonus comes in,” and...
I could spend it quickly if I had a clear outlook.
And yet,
I would always put off spending money on learning.
Even while attending a friend's wedding, I was paying for my course.
When I have some extra money
After I see how things go a little longer
After the event is over
...The excuses just keep coming.
It's not that I don't have the money.
I just always kept telling myself that investing in my future self was 'not the right time yet'.I kept putting it off.
I was asked in an article whether I would choose travel or self-investment
One time,
I read a note article,
and it hit me.
Money,
do you use it for 'things that satisfy your current feelings',
or do you use it for 'things that change your future self'?
That choice. What would you do?
After reading it, I thought to myself.
For so long
I've lived my life leaning toward the former, I thought.
That person
chose their future self over a trip.
The old me hadn't been able to make that kind of decision yet.
This time, I paid immediately and took action. Right after that, I went to Kobe.
Recently, a limited-time course I wanted to take was announced.
I immediately contacted them saying, "I want to do this too."
That was because I had already decided how I would make decisions when paying money.
……But, surprisingly, right after that,
I had a friend's wedding,
and I went all the way to Kobe.
Just as the title says,
I am someone who is paying for a course while attending a wedding.
"I have a trip coming up, so I can't pay right now."
"I'll think about it after the event is over."
——If it were the old me,
I'm sure I would have said that and put it off again.
The day of the wedding. I was looking forward to it, and it was truly fun.
It was a big day for someone dear to me. I'm glad I went.
But, on the morning I left,
I suddenly thought,
that a "convenient time" in life will never come—
Even if there's a wedding,
even if I'm busy,
even if I don't have the capacity—
"When next month comes"
"After I get back"
"Once things settle down"
are things I can say forever.
The trip itself isn't bad.
The excuse of "it's not the right time yet"might just be something I've been dragging on.
I realized it after I got back. "After I get back" was a weak excuse.
The day after I returned.
"I'll write it when I get back."
"I'll organize it when I get back."
……Even though I had been saying that since before I went on the trip.
I couldn't get started at all.
The reasons I was trying to quit were,
"Because I'm tired from the trip"
"Because my brain isn't working"
"I'll just do it tomorrow"
……All of them were,
reasons along the lines of "I'm not feeling well right now" or "I don't have time".
Before I paid the money, it was
"After the trip is over."
After I paid, it was
"Because I'm tired from the trip."
The form is different, but
the content was the same.
When the reason for quitting is
only "because I don't have time" or "because I'm not feeling well",
I thought that might be a pretty weak reason.
What I realized on the way back from my trip was,
the habit of escaping to "next time"was,
still lingering.
Right now, as I write this note,
on my way home from work,
"I will publish this note today"
I kept telling myself.
……So.
Right now, I am writing this note.
This isn't a story about things going well.
It is my honest feelings right now.
Paying for a course while going on a trip—
It might look like a contradiction.
But for me,
it was a week where I moved a little bit away from the self that was stuck forever saying "when next month comes"from.
It was a week where I moved a little bit away from that.
If you are saying "after such and such is over" right now,
suddenly,
I am not saying you should stop doing that.
Enjoying yourself is also important.
Tonight, please try writing just one line.
“The money I use for my future self,
what event am I currently putting it off until after?”
“When I get my bonus”
“After the trip is over”
“When things calm down after being busy”
“When next month comes”
—Once a reason comes to mind,
please take a look just once to see if it is the real reason.
Even after that event ends,
the next event will surely come.
Rather than waiting for a convenient time,
“Am I only putting off the money for learning?”—
please try looking at that just for tonight.
It can be small.
Just writing one line at night is enough.
That was the story for today.
