一級河川利根川に隣接する自然豊かな町、利根町。その利根町に住む少女・ミズキは、何故か百発百中で当たる雨降り予報以外ごく普通の女の子だった。ある日、ミズキは不思議な夢を見る。破壊された街、荒廃した世界、立ちはだかる怪獣と、何かに取り憑かれたように立ち向かう人々、そしてミズキの名を呼ぶ微かな声…同じ夢を見る日が何日も続き、ミズキの精神は限界に達していた。
｢あなたはいったい誰なの！？｣
ミズキを呼ぶ声の主は、意外な相手であった。ミズチと名乗る彼女は、ミズキの未来の娘だというのだ。ミズチから語られた未来は、想像を絶するものであった。正体不明の宇宙怪獣が、現在のミズキの時代から間もなく利根町に襲来し、世界を破滅の危機に追い込んだというのだ。人類は怪獣を人類共通の脅威と断定し、怪獣の根絶、ひいては怪獣の住処である自然の根絶を決断。やがて地球は荒廃し、怪獣と人類の戦争の中で母ミズキも命を落としたという。肉体を捨て、精神エネルギーを機械に移すことでかろうじて生きながらえているミズチと生き残った人類は、一縷の望みを懸け、最新の転送装置を使って、戦いを食い止められるギリギリの時代を生きるミズキの元に、娘であるミズチの思念を送ってきたというのだ。ミズチによるとミズキは蛟蝄神社こうもうじんじゃの祭神罔象女大神ミヅハノメノオオカミの末裔であり、百発百中の雨降り予報が、その力の片鱗である何よりの証拠だという。同様の力は娘のミズチにも備わっていたが、肉体を機械と入れ替えた今では力が足りなかった。しかし母娘の力をシンクロさせれば罔象女大神の眷属である笠貫沼の龍神と交感でき、宇宙怪獣は必ず倒せるという。怪獣が人類の敵でないことが証明できれば、戦争は止められる。

Tone Town is a town rich in nature, adjacent to the first-class Tone River. Mizuki, a girl living in Tone Town, was a perfectly ordinary girl except for her rain forecasts, which were always accurate. One day, Mizuki has a strange dream. A destroyed city, a desolate world, monsters standing in her way, people fighting back as if possessed by something, and a faint voice calling Mizuki's name... She has the same dream for days on end, and Mizuki's mind is reaching its limit.

The owner of the voice calling Mizuki was an unexpected person. The woman, who introduced herself as Mizuchi, claimed to be Mizuki's future daughter. The future Mizuchi described was beyond imagination. An unknown space monster attacked Tone Town shortly after Mizuki's time, bringing the world to the brink of destruction. Humanity determined the monster to be a common threat to all of humanity and decided to eradicate it, and by extension, the natural environment that served as its habitat. Eventually, the Earth was devastated, and Mizuki lost her life in the war between the monsters and humanity. Mizuchi, who barely survived by abandoning her physical body and transferring her spiritual energy to a machine, and the surviving humans, clinging to a glimmer of hope, used the latest teleportation device to send Mizuki's thoughts to her, in an era where the war could be stopped at the very last moment. According to Mizuchi, Mizuki is a descendant of Mizuhanome-no-Okami, the deity enshrined at Koumou Shrine, and her 100% accurate rain forecasts are the best evidence of this power. Her daughter Mizuchi also possessed similar power, but it was insufficient now that her body had been replaced with machinery. However, if mother and daughter's powers were synchronized, they could communicate with the dragon god of Kasanuki Marsh, a servant of Mizuhanome-no-Okami, and surely defeat the space monsters. If they could prove that the monsters were not enemies of humanity, the war could be stopped.
