Summer Color☆彡 [Challenge from a Song]

A hot, hot summer night.

We met at

a small bar with delicious drinks.

When we left the bar,

the stars were so beautiful,

so both of us

walked looking up at the sky.

"Want to go out?"

"Yeah"

The day after we met,

and the day after that,

and the day after that too,

you waited in the car

for me to finish work.

Back then,

it was standard practice

for a boyfriend to pick up his girlfriend

at her workplace by car,

so I thought it was only natural

that you would be there,

just like always, in the usual spot.

One time,

we had a fight

over something trivial,

and for the first time in a while

I took the bus home.

On the bus,

the song I listened to.

Yuzu's "Natsuiro" (Summer Color),

usually

I listened to it in your car.

Tears welled up

and wouldn't stop.

When I got off the bus,

at the bus stop

was your car.

We made up inside the car.

And since then,

we've been together ever since.

The time we went to the beach and shouted.

The time we watched a TV drama and cried.

The time we went to see the stars and were moved.

The time I made a bento and delivered it before work.

The time we stared at a sparkler.

The time we talked on the phone all night long.

The time I wrote a letter every day.

The time we went on a hot spring trip.

The time we walked holding hands.

The time we got married.

Yuzu's "Natsuiro" is

the song that holds our memories since we first met.

Twenty years after we married,

on a hot, hot summer day,

the five of us in the family went to

a Yuzu concert.

It was a 20th wedding anniversary celebration from our eldest daughter.

The five of us in the family,

wearing matching Yuzu T-shirts,

went on a little trip.

Working for 900 yen an hour (as a student part-timer),

the cost of the gift from our eldest daughter

for the travel expenses and tickets for five people

exceeded 200,000 yen.

The "Summer Color" we listened to as a family of five

(back when we were dating)

resonated in my heart even more

than the "Summer Color" we used to listen to together.

The song I thought was a love song

has completely become a family song.

Perhaps the reason I am happy

is not because I am loved,

but because I have learned

the joy of loving.
