Kanon and Leon 2 [3-Minute Novel]

It's a crisis!
Kanon has gotten a boyfriend...
It was autumn, when the hot summer had finally ended.
It's been cool lately, and the sound of insects is pleasant to my ears, so I was really looking forward to going for walks with Kanon, but that joy has been taken away.
The man Kanon calls Seiya-san comes to our house a few times a week. When Seiya-san is coming, Kanon doesn't take off her makeup even after she gets home, so I know he's coming today. And on those days, I can't go for a walk.
"Sorry about today, Leon, let's go for tomorrow's share too," Kanon always says, but lately, there have been many times when we can't go the next day either.
When Seiya-san comes, he always eats the food Kanon makes. Kanon says, "Let's eat together," and calls me over too, but since I'm not having fun, I don't say "itadakimasu" and just eat silently.
After eating, Kanon picks me up and puts me in my cage.
Kanon tells me, "Watch some TV," finds a lively-looking program, turns the volume up, and disappears into the room with Seiya-san.
It's been about two months since Seiya-san started coming over.
There were three things that made me wonder why.
One is that Kanon always calls him Seiya-san. I'm Leon, but Seiya-san is Seiya-san. Why add "-san" to her boyfriend's name?
The second is that although Seiya-san eats here, he never stays the night. When the two of them disappear into the room and I get bored of the uninteresting TV and start to doze off, Seiya-san leaves. And,
when Seiya-san leaves, Kanon sighs as if she's a little lonely. When Kanon sighs, I can't help but sigh too.
Another thing is that Kanon has started having more business trips on weekends. That never happened before. When that happens, I get left at a hotel. There are big dogs there, and since I'm small, I'm terrified.
My questions aren't resolved, but recently I've developed another worry.
It's about Christmas, which is coming soon.
Kanon's birthday is December 24th. It was also December 24th, five years ago, when I came to this house. Since I arrived, we have celebrated our anniversaries together every year on this day.
What will happen this year? Will I be left at the hotel? I really don't want that...
I spent every day feeling like that, and December 24th arrived in the blink of an eye. There's no sign of being taken to the hotel. When I'm taken to the hotel, I'm put in my cage in the morning before we leave, so it seems like I'm safe today.
In the evening, Kanon came home at her usual time. She was holding a small white box in her hand.
"I'm home, Leon. I bought a cake, so let's eat it together later."
Together? Is Seiya-san not coming today?
"I want to freshen up, so I'm going to take a shower first. Wait for me."
When I peeked through the gap in the door, Kanon was taking off her makeup. So Seiya-san really isn't coming today. My mood brightened up instantly. I walked back to the living room with a light step and decided to wait patiently for Kanon to come.
Dinner was ready, and I was called, "Leon, it's ready." I replied with a cheerful "Woof!" and hopped onto the chair.
"Well then, let's celebrate together again this year," Kanon said as she toasted.
Huh? She doesn't seem very happy.
After the meal, Kanon brought the cake from the fridge. I'm not usually allowed to eat sweets, but I'm allowed to eat them only on this day every year. That's why I looked forward to this day.
"Leon, I'm sorry for making you feel lonely lately," Kanon said as she took the cake out of the box. What does she mean?
"I'm breaking up with Seiya-san," she said quietly. I didn't know how to act, so I jumped onto Kanon's lap. Kanon's eyes welled up a little. I comforted her with a "whimper."
"What do you mean, Seiya? I don't need a Seiya I can't see on Christmas Eve." I don't understand what Canon means.
"I have Leon, so I'm fine, right Leon?" I don't really get it, but I just said "woof" for now.
I kept an eye on things for a while starting the next day, but Seiya-san didn't show up. I can't be completely at ease yet, but it seems what Canon said was true.
It's cold, but I enjoy going for walks with Canon every day. The new year has arrived. I hope I can be with Canon again this year.
