What is "freedom"...

This is my fourth post.

When you hear the word "freedom" in the title,

how does it make you feel?

Does it sound (seem) like a good word,

or

does it sound (seem) like a bad word,

or perhaps

do you feel (think) nothing at all...

"Freedom"

The correct meaning of the word

can be found by looking it up in a dictionary.

Depending on a person's mood, emotions, or situation at the time,

the word "freedom" is not just about its correct meaning,

but can be interpreted in various ways... I realized.

When I hear the word "freedom",

until a little while ago,

I used to feel,

"That's nice... I'm envious."

Now that I have obtained "freedom," my feelings

have changed to a sense of "responsibility."

Why "responsibility" when I am "free"??

August 2026: Thoughts anew, right now

Three years since then.

Back in 2023,

by obtaining "freedom,"

I felt a sense of "responsibility" on the flip side.

Even reading it back now,

I don't think that feeling was wrong.

However, if it were now, I would like to add one more thing.

Freedom involves not just "responsibility," but also "choice."

When I was a company employee,

I lived within a somewhat fixed schedule, such as

the time I woke up, the time I went to work, and the time I worked.

When you retire, you end up deciding most things for yourself.

What to do.

What not to do.

Who to meet.

Where to go.

And,

What to spend your time on.

Freedom,

is perhaps not about "being able to do anything,"

but about "being able to choose for yourself."

And, since you chose it yourself,

you must also accept the consequences yourself.

That is why,

freedom and responsibility are inseparable.

I feel that with a bit more realization now than I did three years ago.

And now,

not only do I want to "use my freedom for myself,"

but I want to use my time and freedom to be of help to someone else.

That is what I think.

What is freedom?

I am still in the middle of searching for the answer myself.
