Late Night Monologue Night 64: Lamenting the year's end, gathering the laziness of thinking there's always tomorrow - Kuze
The atmosphere at the end of the year is always unique.
Something ends within the cold,
and
the scent of preparation for something new drifts in the air.
I have come to accept these seasonal changes
more quietly
than I used to.
Looking back,
the end and beginning of the year were always busy,
yet somehow enjoyable times.
When I was young,
I took that lively time spent with family
for granted.
The bustle of the year-end cleaning,
the smell of cooking drifting from the kitchen,
the laughter of children and the sound of their running footsteps.
The space created by those things
was just there, as if it were natural.
But looking back now,
I realize that it was a special scene.
Only after losing it
do I know the time that was so dazzling
The peaceful days with my wife,
and the process of the children growing up
and leaving the nest,
all passed by in the daily routine.
But after those things have passed,
I can see how rich that time really was.
Now, while sipping tea,
I gaze at the quiet town outside the window.
It is different from the year-ends of the past,
but this is not bad either.
By remembering the past and engraving it in my heart,
I am gradually accepting it,
which is who I am now.
Both that 'dazzling time' from back then
and this quiet moment now
are, for me,
irreplaceable times.
Waiting for nothing in particular, day after day,
has this year really come to today?
