Quiet emptiness. In the midst of peaceful days, sometimes my heart feels a little distant.
I am happy.
Every day passes peacefully.
I finish what I need to do today,
exchange words with someone,
and before I know it, the day is over.
It is a routine where nothing changes.
And yet,
nothing seems to reach my heart.
I can see the scenery.
The seasons are changing just as they should.
It is not that there are no happy events,
nor that sad events are continuing.
Even so,
all of it
stops just short of my heart.
In the past,
I would pause at casual words,
and feel the seasons in small glimpses of scenery.
Now,
I cannot recall those feelings.
Have I lost my emotions?
There were days when I thought about that.
But,
even in soil that looks like nothing has changed,
in places unseen,
roots can be quietly growing.
No sprouts have appeared yet.
No flowers have bloomed.
If you only look at the surface of the soil,
it looks like nothing is happening.
Even so,
I cannot say that truly nothing is happening.
Is the human heart
a little similar?
I have a desire to believe so.
However,
for me right now,
I cannot fully believe it yet.
Therefore,
I have stopped looking for an answer.
"It will change eventually."
Even to words like those,
I cannot nod right now.
However,
within this quiet emptiness,
it is certain that I am here today.
How long will this last?
Why do I feel this way?
I do not know that yet.
So today,
I think I will remain without finding an answer.
