[1-Minute Movie Review] Del Toro's 'Frankenstein'
Mary Shelley's original 'Frankenstein'. Guillermo del Toro ('Pan's Labyrinth', 'The Shape of Water', etc.) has brilliantly elevated this classic gothic horror into his own unique dark fantasy.
The creatures he depicts, while seemingly terrifying and at times grotesque at first glance, radiate a charm that is somehow endearing and melancholic.
The creature played by Jacob Elordi, while surprising in appearance with a resemblance to the 'Engineers' from 'Prometheus', strongly evokes empathy.
Elizabeth, played by Mia Goth—a role at the opposite end of the spectrum from the intense characters she has played recently—adds depth to the shadows of the story, even though the setting differs from the original work.
It is a 'scary-beautiful' film packed with Del Toro's signature style.🤔
