March 19th is Music Day (Musicians, Working Bands, Rock Fashion, Music)

It is said that March 19th is "Music Day" every year.
It was established in 1991 by the Japan Musicians Union, a labor organization for music professionals, based on the wordplay of "Mu(3)-sic(19)"♪

I am Minoru "Bobby" Terushita, a leather art creator from Shodoshima and the founder of
the bespoke leather brand Bobby Art Leather®, which develops rock-style leather fashion from Osaka, Kansai.
Known as Bobby, I am the creator behind these works.

The reason I started creating leather works wasn't so much because I wanted to make leather goods or start leathercrafting, but because I felt that the costumes and accessories worn by 70's rock musicians were cool. When I saw a leather jacket by North Beach Leather at a vintage clothing store, it had such an impact that it blew my mind, and I was driven by the desire to one day make a leather jacket with my own hands that would fit a Japanese physique like mine perfectly. That was what led me into this world.

I personally love popular music, whether it's Western or Japanese, and I spent time working steadily on my own, from songwriting to performing, with the goal of becoming a singer-songwriter.

However, the gap between the image I wanted to express and what I was actually capable of kept widening.
Around that time, my design work became busier, and I gradually drifted away from my music activities.

In those stagnant days, I stopped by a vintage clothing store. Thanks to the leather jacket I found there, a ray of light shone into my clouded heart, and I began to pour the rock image I had been envisioning into my leather work, pursuing design sense and technique.

The reason for this is the desire to never forget the straightforward heart I had in my teens when I was obsessed with music,
and the wish to stay connected to the world of music through my leather work.

Bobby Art Leather hopes to continue being a leather fashion brand loved by Japanese professional musicians,
people who continue to play in bands steadily as students or working adults,
and people who don't play instruments themselves but love listening to music
and continue to admire the style of musicians.

Even now, past 50, when the music I listened to back then plays on the radio or YouTube,
I am reminded of my "youth" in my teens, back in my hometown, filled with big dreams and ambition.
The masterpieces I encountered back then never fade, and even now, they feel like the background music of my life,
projecting images into my heart♪

I would be happy if Bobby Art Leather's works could also be something that lights a fire in someone's heart,
just like that music.
