Short Short: Desert Island Life Lucky Bag
The busy season finally ended, and I opened the closet. It was already December, yet I still hadn't taken out my winter clothes.
I dragged out the storage bin. When I opened the lid, the clothes bulged out. Down jackets and scarves were all bunched up together. I wished my spring self had folded them, but I recall being busy back then, too.
There was a sweater inside I didn't recognize. What was it? It still had the price tag on it. I remembered. It was from a lucky bag. I had bought it and never ended up wearing it.
"What a waste."
I gave a bitter smile. When I think something is a good deal, I end up buying it. And I never even check what's inside properly. I think I bought a stationery lucky bag, a home appliance lucky bag, and a new life lucky bag this year, too.
I looked at my desk for remote work. The sticky notes were from the stationery lucky bag. The electric kettle whistled in the kitchen. That was from the home appliance lucky bag.
"New life?"
I tilted my head. I had no memory of what was in it. As I brushed the dust off the sweater, a piece of paper fluttered down. It had "Desert Island Life" written on it in large letters.
Splash. I could hear the sound of waves outside.
Short Short No. 743
I am participating in Tarahakani's "Weekly Short Short Note." This week's theme is "Desert Island Life Lucky Bag."
Last week's theme was "Long-Distance Relationship for Sale." The stylish and pop-oriented Hisui-san has a sci-fi flavor!
Whether on Earth or in space, falling in love is always a surprise.
