#226; The flames of the fire
Today's photo is of a pinecone I took a little while ago. It's covered in a bit of sand. I didn't notice it when I took the picture, but it's very clear when you zoom in.
A few days ago, around 8:30 in the morning, I heard the sound of fire engine sirens. It wasn't just one; I heard four or five in quick succession. When I looked in the direction of the sirens from the window on the north side of my house, I saw flames and black smoke rising. It was about a kilometer away in a straight line from my place. It looked like a fire in a residential area on the hill on the other side.
At this time of year, even if I hear news of fires and the sound of fire engine sirens, it's usually not something close to home, and even when fires do occur, they are often in areas quite far away, so I hadn't paid much attention to it.
I think this is probably the first time a fire has occurred within sight of my naked eye. Seeing the flames and black smoke made me strongly feel that I need to be careful about fire. I got rid of all my kerosene heaters a long time ago and don't use them anymore. My heating in the winter is just air conditioning, a carbon heater, and a kotatsu. Since I have many electrical appliances, I must be careful about electrical leaks and broken power cords.
The evening news reported that the house where the fire broke out was where an elderly woman lived alone, and she was found dead after the fire was extinguished. May she rest in peace.
Since the humidity is low and it is dry in the winter, please don't forget to be careful about fire.
Well then,
