New Series Episode 6: 2 AM, The Night I Couldn't Stop Crying
I had quit my job, and I was supposed to be free.
No more shouting from my boss,
no more emails chasing deadlines,
and no more sighs from colleagues.
"I'm okay now."
I told myself that over and over.
And yet.
My heart was still left behind at the office.
2 AM.
As I stared at the ceiling in the pitch-black room,
suddenly, my chest tightened.
"What... am I doing?"
That voice echoed in my head.
"You won't make it anywhere."
"In the end, you're just a quitter."
It felt like it was being whispered right in my ear,
and I gripped my blanket tightly.
A Broken Heart
Tears streamed down my cheeks on their own.
I tried to stop them, but I couldn't.
While crying silently,
I curled my body up and desperately tried to steady my breathing.
"I quit, so why..."
"I'm supposed to be free now..."
Every time a sob escaped, it felt like my heart was being torn apart.
A Tiny Light
The notepad I'd left on my desk caught the corner of my eye.
Those words I wrote the night I decided to quit.
"It's not running away. It's what I need to do to live."
The letters blurred.
The moment I said those words out loud,
I felt like my throat opened up a little, and breathing became easier.
"......I wonder if I'll be able to smile again."
2 AM.
Messy with tears,
I closed my eyes with a heart that felt just a little bit lighter.
