The Freedom of Heart I Learned from My Husband's Souvenir
The other day, my husband went out to visit a neighboring prefecture and
bought me some sweets as a souvenir.
When he said, "Here's a souvenir," and took it out, it was
a package of sweets I had seen before.
I thought to myself,
"Isn't this a sweet from our local area
(the city we live in now)...?"
"No, wait, was it actually made in the neighboring prefecture?"
I casually checked the back of the package,
and it said [Manufacturer: (Local) City].
Why would you go to a neighboring prefecture
and bring back local sweets as a souvenir??
I couldn't help but wonder 🤣🤣
Since he went to the trouble of buying it for me,
I have no complaints at all ☺
I was just curious why he didn't choose something from that prefecture.
If it were me,
I would think, "If I'm going to get something, it should be from that place."
But when I think about it,
it's not surprising for my husband.
He probably just thought,
"This looks delicious! I want to eat it!"
and bought it.
He doesn't look at the labels on the back of the package.
Where it was made doesn't matter to him.
He buys what he wants to eat!
He's so honest with his heart and free.
I thought, that's just like him 😊
If it were me,
when I travel or go out,
if I'm buying souvenirs (including for myself),
I tend to restrict myself to [things I can only buy in that land or place].
Even if I think, "That looks delicious!"
if the manufacturer isn't from that area,
I quietly put it back...
But does that mean
I'm putting limits on my own desires?
I suddenly wondered about that.
It might not be such a big deal,
but I do have a thought in the corner of my mind that says, "I should make it worth the effort of traveling far."
But looking at my husband's souvenir,
I realized, "Buying what you want to eat, that's perfectly fine, isn't it?"
That is what I thought.
With that realization, I feel like I was able to remove the small mental boundaries I had set for myself, like 'it would be a waste not to do this.'
That said, I'm not going to stop choosing things based on the idea of 'if I'm going to get something, it should be something I can only buy here' 🤭
I love that 'special feeling' ✨
I realized that the excitement and curiosity of 'wanting to find something rare' isn't something that binds me, but rather a 'preference' that enriches my life.
While I will continue to cherish that preference,
it was an experience that made me think that sometimes, it's nice to be free and just choose based on intuition, like my husband does 🍀
