Rework with Hanamizuki

"Hanamizuki (feat. Yo Hitoto)" was released on streaming services on September 9, 2023!!
I layered my guitar and vocals over Yo Hitoto's singing voice to perform my own version of "Hanamizuki."

It's a very luxurious project where you can feel like you're performing with Yo Hitoto!!
The reason I decided to participate in
Rework with Hanamizukiwas an article I found while producing my new song "Ko-o."

Roughly speaking, after reading that the content was "You are free to use the Hanamizuki data as you like to create a new Hanamizuki," the first thing that popped into my head was

a certain episode. I remember reading in an article somewhere that when this song was released, Yo Hitoto gave every single person who came to her concert (a huge number of people) a potted gardenia plant as a souvenir on their way home... At the time, I read that and was so moved, thinking, "Yo Hitoto, how wonderful you are!!" and I've remembered it ever since. (I felt that the souvenir contained an important message about continuing and nurturing things.)

My initial thought was to somehow incorporate that episode into "Hanamizuki."
Maybe through rap... that was my first idea.

Yo Hitoto even said it was okay to rap...

So, at first, I tried layering something like rap over the track, but I have absolutely no talent for rap, haha, and I couldn't make it sound cool at all, not even a little bit.

So it ended up in this form, which is the most natural for me: layering guitar and vocals.
I didn't want to ruin Yo Hitoto's wonderful singing voice and the world of the lyrics.
But I also wanted to bring out my own Mami Hatanaka style... so I aimed for that fine line.

Arranging a masterpiece is nerve-wracking!! But I had a lot of fun playing with it. I felt once again that Hanamizuki is a beautiful song.

Also, this project is linked with the Nippon TV program "SENSORS," andthe best works among the songs released as derivative works this time are scheduled to be introduced within "SENSORS."That is what they said. I don't know the judging criteria, but
I thought maybe having the song listened to and shared a lot might be a point in my favor.

Finally, I'll post another arrangement version.
It's an arrangement I rejected, but since I went to the trouble of making it, I decided to sing it.
